823 is , but so far all wind readings in flight 2 have been -0.0 which looks just a little bit suspect...

Anybody? All I get is a blank screen in the USATF results section. What do I need to do to get them?

I had a similar problem. Try clearing your cache, or opening the page in a different browser.

This does work in Firefox:

even immediate updates...

On the other hand, all wind readings in flight 1 have been between -1.4 and +1.6, so there's no reason to think there may have been a big wind.

Hardee a solid 7.55 on his second jump. He surely wants more, but now he can go hard on his last jump.

7.55m (24' 9.25") for Hardee on his 2nd jump = 960 pts.

Got to talk a fair amount to Ashton at the Jerome meet. A complete class act and obviously a brillant performer. Been a big fan since 2008-so nice to see it all come together-even better than awe could imagine.

DH and I are jumping up and down in our LR-damn we should have gone down.
:D
marlow-cheer your heart out for me!

Now we have to hope he can hold this form for London!

6.29m and 6.10m for Arnold on his first 2 jumps, after only 11.20 in the 100m. So far it doesn't look like he's going to be the surprise 3rd placer.

A bad 3rd jump (foul) for Clay, and it looks like he's potentially hurt :(

Clay jumps three times but doesn't improve over his first leap. He's now 8 points down on 8500 pace.

With 10.21 and 8.23 I can see him on a pace for 9033 without any further PRs:
14.7/2.05/46 today
13.4/40/5.20/60/4:20 tomorrow

He has matched or beaten every one of those performances.

DecFan wrote:After the big three, who's next? Here are some 1st day results to look for that will give us clues:

Jake Arnold: In his comeback, Jake has set a decathlon PR in the 100 (10.93); however, he's performed well below his previous standards in the LJ, SP, and HJ. If he hits 6.8+ in the LJ, 14.6+ in the SP, and 2.00+ in the HJ, he'll be well on his way to 8200+, and the favorite after Eaton, Hardee, and Clay.

Beach: I find it hard to come up with a scenario in which he scores 8200 points, as I don't see evidence of improvement in his very weak throws.

Harlan: Similar to Beach, except his weaknesses are in the running events instead of the throws. I don't see him scoring 8200.

Chris Helwick: A sleeper with a real shot at the top place outside the big 3. 8143 PR from 2008, PRs that sum to 8672. Look particularly at his SP. He had a 14.47 put indoors this year, but has never gone over 14m in a decathlon. If he can hit 14.5+, LJ 7.2 and HJ 2.0, he'll have a decent shot at 8200. On day 2, if he's still in the mix, look for his erratic JT: He's thrown 72m, but has also had decathlons in which he hasn't reached 60m.

Harlan, Helwick, Moss and Murphy are all with sub 7.00 jumps and the road to "A" is almost impossible. Clay and Beach are the only one with a realistic chance to Join Eaton and Hardee. Beach test is coming in the SP. He has to throw 12.50+ to have a chance at the "A".

Gray Horn - who just graduated from Florida, but was hurt at indoor NCAA's and didn't compete outdoors - jumps 7.60 and now looks to be ahead of Beach in the battle for the lead of the chase pack. Arnold jumps poorly, as does Helwick - no one other than the big three is going to hit 8200 in this competition.

Anyone got the updated totals after 2-events? They haven't been updated on the USATF live results page yet (and I'm too lazy to do the math myself).

I think there's going to be exciting competitions today and tomorrow:
1) Eaton vs. Obrien & Sebrle
2) Clay vs. Hardee

After two events:
Beach is 7 points behind his score when he set his PB (8083).
Horn is 8 points behind his score when he set his PB(7914).

Horn is better in SP and his mark when he set his decathlon PB was relatively low (12.61). He needs ~14.00 throw to keep his Olympic dream alive.

1) I'll take Eaton over Sebrle by 10 leaving Obrien in the dust.
2) this is really Clay vs an A standard.

15.72 for Hardee on throw 2. Only 22cm from his PR, and a within decathlon PR for him.

Not counting a potential improvement in his 2nd or 3rd throws, Clay's first 3 events are quite similar to his first 3 in his PR deca from the '08 Trials:

2008 Trials: 10.39, 7.39m, 15.17m = 2709 pts
2012 Trials: 10.45, 7.40m, 15.63m = 2725 pts

Beach only manages 11.83m after 3 throws :( I can't imagine that bodes well for his chances at the 8200pt A-standard, even if he were to somehow finish top-3.

Eaton only 13.84 after two puts. He really needs another 40cm to continue to have a good shot at the WR.
