Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interesthttp://www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/2012/U-S--Olympic-Team-Trials-TF/Athlete-Info/Entry/Status-of-Entries.aspx
With a few days until OT's begin, I know this will be a short-lived thread, but maybe one of interest while it lasts? Please chime in if you have any notes of interest... Here's a few of interest as of June 18: 1) A. Taylor and K. Clement both entered in m400H, but neither in open 400, so no double for Angelo as of now... 2) As we all know by now, K. Duncan scratched in the w100 3) No A. Morton entry yet in the m400H - will/can he run for the USA? or no okay from Nigeria? 4) C. Mitchell entered w/ his windy 20.24, but still "not qualified" 5) No HS preps yet entered in the M/W short sprints (T. Hill, M. Bracy, etc.), but A. Bailey listed as "qualified/declared" in the m400, a #12 seed! 6) Preps A. Wilson, A. Weissenbach, M. Cain and D. Aragon all "provisional/pending" in the w800 and/or w1500 7) Prep throwers H. Crouser and S. Vaughan both entered and qualified, w/ Vaughan not yet declared
Re: Oly Trial Entry Notes: Those of Interestlooks like most of whats up there seems to be close to final, in terms of entries, not what people will actually run (Felix entered in 100, 200 and 400).
Tianna Madison entered in the 100 200 and Long jump, but she only has the B standard in the Long. Her name is Tianna Bartoletta?
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
Entries is one thing, declared is another, so that status change up to declaration deadline is, I assume, critical to who makes the cut, right?
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
Yea, what im saying is that the names listed in the events are probably, or close to final. As in I dont expect to see Taylor entered in the 400m by tomorrow.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
The 400h and 400 finals are on the same night in London, so it's one or the other this year.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestJen Rhines entered in the 5000 but scratched from the 10000. Don't know I agree with that. I'm sure her husband of all people wouldn't put her in the wrong event though.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestIn men's 1500, still undeclared are Centro and Wheating. Declared include Andrews, Webb. No Lamong (he's declared in 5000).
In the 5000 Lagat hasn't declared yet, either, though it's not any mystery as to which event he will do. Webb is also listed in the 5000 with his status as "provisional" and his declaration "pending." Declared for double duty at 5000/10,000: Rupp,Tegenkamp, Derrick, Vaughn and Ritz.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
Good observation HopStepJump and thanks, as I was assuming the OlyTrials were set up similar to London. I'm also happy because this pretty much clears the path for Torrin Lawrence to make the opening rounds/field of 28 (w/o Taylor & Clement in the open 400). Only at the US Trials could a guy who split 44 flat a few weeks ago be on the edge of not making it to the opening rounds - how's that for depth in the men's 400.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestWomen's 1,500: Declared include Simpson, Schmidt, Rowbury...Hasay...Mackey...Bowman...Wright (also Declared in 800). Still undeclared are Uceny, Wurth, Pierce and Moser.
Kastor scratched from the 5,000 and 10,000. In the 5,000, Declared are Fleshman, Lucas, Huddle, Rhines...Hastings, Uhl...Infeld...Spence. Undeclared as yet -- Flanagan, Felnagle, Tebo. Ducks Hasay and Kosinski are listed as "Provisional" and "Pending." Possibly doing doubles, declared in 5,000/10,000: Hastings and Uhl
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestPending means they have declared. Declared only shows up for auto qualifiers. If it's blank they have not yet declared.
Life is rough for athletes on the bubble. Track can be an expensive sport.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestSo, am I correct in saying that the suspense will be over tomorrow (Tues. 6/19) at midnight regading A. Felix's potential double, as declaration deadlines for both the w100 and w400 are tomorrow?
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
USATF's definition of "Pending" is open to a lot of interpretation. Athlete has "declared...but entry is in provisional status, has an updated mark that must be ratified, or required additional information."
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
Yes, IF the website is updated in real time, and I don't know that.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
It updates once per hour. I liked the old layout better. I don't mind doing one event at a time, but the entries appear in such a scattered order, the font is too big and the pretty colors are gone.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
She can just declare for all three. No obligation to run.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
But doing that, and not scratching in time... well, wouldn't that take away a spot, in one event, for the next person in line, if they're on a bubble. Certainly doesn't sound like something Allyson would do.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestIsn't there also a thing where if you withdraw from one event without competing you can't start another?
It's in the IAAF rule book, though it's often overlooked
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestWhy has Kastor scratched? Injured or just felt she wasn't in shape to make the team? I'm assuming it's the former.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
Here's one brief blurb on her injury status: http://news.runnersworld.com/2012/06/14 ... ng-report/ I read a longer one somewhere with more quotes from her -- she also said she does not intend to retire, which I was happy to read, as she has made a strong comeback this year.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestAuburn's Brock and Rowland declared in m100, but no declaration yet for Harry Adams (in 100 or 200). 9.96 at the NCAA's... anyone know if his injury/pullout at the NCAA 200/relay is keeping him out of the Trials?, terrible luck if that's the case.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestIt's extremely sad for me to see both Mary Cain and Cayla Hatton, both far down the list of provisional/pending (Cain in the 800 and 1500, Hatton in the 10K), and NOT likely to make the cut to run in the Trials!!
I'd much rather see them run, and possibly SHATTER the HS records (Cain could run 4:08-4:10 right now---Hatton could go 32:30 or better, and take down Mary Shea's mark from 1979!!).....than see some 4:12 type or some 32:40 type run, with NO chance of winning!!! What other chance this summer will Hatton have to run a fast 10K?? Cain will have the World Juniors and maybe another Junior meet to run a 4:10, but it would give her greater odds of getting a bunch of 4:05 women to follow in the Trials, to run that 4:10 or faster!! How exciting for the sport!! Put them in there......no matter what!!!
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of Interest
Maybe not... with today being the deadline for w800 entries, and w/ a field of 32, A. Wilson is in at the 24th slot, and Cain is in, but on the bubble at the 30/31st slot, so you could see two preps there.
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestBeen a T&F fan for 50 years, but don't pay much attention to the rules & regs part of the sport, so pardon my naive question.
Can someone please tell me how many athletes in each event will be competing?? Are there to be 32 in lane-run races with heats, 8 in each of 4 heats?? How many in the 10K's?? 12, 20, 28??? I've TRIED understanding what the entries list means with it's "pending" and "provisional" and "declared".......but to me, it's all mumbo-jumbo!! And when will we have the FINAL entries list for each event?? At the starting line?? Thanks in advance for your help!!
Re: Oly Trial Entry Status: Notes of InterestIt's listed as "Target # of Athletes" on the schedule. Ranges from 18 to 32 depending on the event.
