Since both were raised and educated in the USofA, could they also represent us or has that train left the station, ship sailed, milk spilt?

If I remember correctly Morton was frustrated with the Nigerian Federation for some reason and was considering representing America.

According to this article he is still an unknown for them.

2 years ago he said he wanted to take the hard way and run for the U.S. (his father is American and his "nigerian" mother was born in Cameroon)

Morton wins it in 48.79, moves to #5 in the world now.
Looks like at least the top 3 guys all ran PR's.

No idea, is there a cut off point before he has to choose?
I could only imagine that he knows he wouldn't be a sure for London if he ran for the US, so he probably have a good reason for not wanting to represent Nigeria, which I respect a lot.

In his interview with flotrack, it seem as if he will be going to USA trials.

From T&FN's Today's Top Headlines...
http://www.punchng.com/sports/ustaf-writes-afn-on-amaechis-release/

I'm confused here... why is USATF asking for a release from Nigeria if according to the last sentence of the article, it's not necessary. However, he did compete for Nigeria in Berlin 2009, which was on August 23, 2009 (where Morton ran 46.58 3rd leg for Nigeria), and therefore won't be 3 full years until after the Olympics... Is this why USATF is asking for the release, or are there other politics involved?
