Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?
Total crapshoot here! One of the three will go at least 2.30, but one won't even make 2.25 (don't know the progression). Or a darkhorse could take it all - no way of knowing.
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?
Progression is 2.24-2.28-2.31, according to flash results.
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?
So one will make 2.31, one will make 2.24 and the third will disappear!
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?I am pulling for Kynard, although I think Drouin will take it. Kynard has been wildly inconsistent this year. He seems to be having run up issues.
Nick Ross did a good job of peaking indoors at the championships and could be a sleeper.
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?Yay - Kynard and Drouin over 7-7!!
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?Kynard 7-8!!
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?Oh, by the way, here's the official bar progression, according to the live results page:
2.46m (8-0 ¾) 2.49m (8-2) 2.70m (8-10 ¼) 2.75m (9-0 ¼) so maybe we'll see that 9' HJ we've all been anticipating!
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?Anybody notice that there is only one senior in the field and he ended up in 15th place? How often does that happen? I didn't know high jumpers went early to the NBA . . .
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?
You know those Kentucky HJers - one and done!
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?Poor Larry Rawson (ESPN3) - he just went 0-for-3.
1. Didn't know Kynard had already missed twice at 2.37 before passing his last attempt to 2.38 2. Thought K had cleared 2.37. 3. Thought he was the World Leader (after he corrected his height to 2.34).
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?
I muted the volume after he commented the 4x4 guys were "in heat"
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?Whoever that is doing the field interviews...ummm...no.
Re: NCAA mHJ—Drouin healthy again?
Jill? She just said she was a KSU HJ/Hep-er. She is . . . 'enthusiastic'.
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)Kynard to =No. 5 on the all-time collegiate list.
Does he do the tightest tuck and roll after the bar clearance in history? (and no, I ain't talkin' upholstery!)
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)His HS coach and mine are one and the same person, and we came to Des Moines in no small part just to see him jump. To say that we went apeshit when he cleared 7' 8" is a bit understated. I'm not a HJ expert but his attempt at the CR looked very close to me. Here's to hoping that he and Drouin cultivate an ongoing rivalry.
I would say that another major reason I spent this money and drove 9 hours is so that I wouldn't have to listen to Larry Rawson. There are so many good stadium announcers in this country and so few good TV announcers. Just goes to show that the decision-makers literally could not care less.
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)Drouin equals the meet's best non-winning mark ever
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)Performance of the meet?
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)
Or Tony McQuay.
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)Kynard moves to No. 5 on the all-time collegiate list; McQuay is somewhere outside the top 10. That's about all I need to know.
(and no, voting for Levins or Riley isn't a "performance"; those are performances plural)
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)How many performances at the NCAAs could reasonably result in a medal in London? I am guessing that this is probably the only one on the men's side. Not sure if anything could on the women's side.
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)
And he sure has an easier way to the Olympics than Kynard since no one else in Canada has jumped even 7-2. Drouin and Mike Mason both has 7-7.
Re: ¶NCAA mHJ—Erik Kynard (Kansas St) 7-8 | 2.34 (CL)
But the Collegiate list at 400 is much more impressive than the hj list.

The famous Heinrich Ratjen tuck!
