Jamaica is really becoming a discus power! This is amazing. Funny, some of our European posters always point to the DT as proof of coaching (eg Germany) and this is the area that Jamaica is showing the most growth on the international stage.

Without American football to play, the throws become the ideal workout for big people in Jamaica.

I could agree with that; however, the Jamaican youth champion, Dacres is a skinny kid with VERY LONG ARMS - which is a better asset than just being big.. But coaching has a lot to do with it and the DT coach in Jamaica is doing a phenomenal job. In the last few years they've done things in the DT and SP that is making Jamaica look almost Cuba-like.
