Does anybody know what happened to Jennifer Suhr? Her name is not on the list of Prefontaine Classic 2012's women's pole vault competitors.

Well, they're off to a quick start with a US record in the W Ham.

Cosby 74.11 behind Wlodarczyk 75.60

ETA - so final results seem to be:

Heidler 75.93
Wlodarczyk 75.60
Lysenko 74.95
Cosby 74.11

Corrected to 1.57.37, only .03 off her PR from 2 years ago. Great race by her, she was pushing with the rabbit the whole time and took over after about 400m.

So it seems Taylor and Claye are continuing to do what they did last season. That was outstanding how they went back and forth at last year's NCAAs.

I wish they would hold a Diamond league in So-Cal - weather freaking perfect here ////

the HDC classic in carson got a good run for 5 yrs, but attedance dwindled. u would think that with 15 million people in so cal they SHOULD fill three stadia, but the fans her tend to be fickle. i think the last time there was a big crowd for a track meet in LA that was at the 84 olympics !

Tirunesh Dibaba is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! She had stomach problems during the race, but hung in there and was able to summon enough kick (63.9?) to hold off Florence Kiplagat, 30:24.xx.

Kenyan 10K -- I thought Eliud Kipchoge looked good, but when the racing began on the last lap, he just faded away.

Schmidt held off Jenny Simpson in the 15 -- surprising.

The live feed worked quite well, at least for me.

NBC showed once again how much they care about the field events. At least they briefly showed Cosby's throw. Message sent: US record gets you barely 5 seconds in a 90 minute NBC coverage.

Easily one of the worst broadcasts in many years. Rough day for the NBC boys. Non-track-fan friend I was watching with asked if the meets were always this poor.

I would say the organizers of this years pre classic have done a pretty well job in getting the right athletes to attend this meet judging by all of the wl's and mr's!

Yes, it was a horrible job. I can't believe how bad Lewis Johnson, who used to be a pacemaker, is on giving splits (and what they MEAN). In the mile, he said after the 1:54 that they were still doing well, but didn't realize that the 2nd lap was almost 60. In the 3K, he never said a thing about the pace. Uncle Tom, of course, had his usual laughers, like the "men's two-thousand meter dash".

Sigh.

I couldn't see it, either.

And the NBC coverage was atrocious. They showed the first three laps of women's 3000m (when there was little action), and then Dwight's "field report" and then the commercial break. By the time they went back to the race, Selsouli was finishing her business. When did she drop Sally? Well, while the TV camera was away.

That's a nice way to show a race, if you are catering to Brie Felnagle (who was one of the pacers) fans!

I am resolved with the fact that Pre and Adidas are the poorest covered meets of the DL. I could live with laughable commentary, what gets me is not showing oodles of events.

I should clarify my comments. I meant it was technically one of the worst ever. The camera angles were poor, the graphics were intrusive and not timely, it was just a jittery mess.

The women's 3K was a non-event that should have been quietly dropped for filler.

My expectations are now so low that I was actually thrilled that I could see some events live! :?
