Prefontaine Classic 2012I heard from a reliable source that Pre tickets aren't selling as well as usual. Perhaps it's the bad economy and the Trials coming up a few weeks later. That's a shame because TJ has organized an amazing meet this year. The 110s including Liu, Oliver, Robles, Richardson, Merritt and Eaton
just might be the race of the year prior to London. Anyone sitting on the bubble should pony up and buy a ticket to support the best meet in the US.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Are tickets ridiculously overpriced?
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012No! Mine was all of $37.50, which I consider a screaming bargain.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012It really does sound like one of the best Pre Classics ever. Wonderful match-ups. I'm really looking forward to it.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
A real bargain at $37.50. The better seats at Adidas are twice as much. While they no doubt have higher production costs in NYC, they don't necessarily offer a better meet. Last edited by bruce3404 on Wed May 23, 2012 8:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Plus you have Friday night's part of the meet as a bonus.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012I just checked the website. I can get tickets for me, my wife and two kids for $77...total! So pricing can't be the issue.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Who are the throwers coming to Pre?
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Kirani James vs laShawn Merritt should be a tasty and keenly contested matchup.

http://www.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php ... ent_id=120 Some excellent matchups this weekend in Eugene.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
A friend thinks this is the best US meet since the 1990 Goodwill Games. Can't disagree.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Was just loking thru the lineupand about to post that this is a damn good meet. Merritt vs James should beawesome as none of those guys like to los and both seem to be in good form right now.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012I'm saying 44.4 or below is gonna win that Men's 400. I predict Merritt, Wariner then James in that order. Wariner in 44.6 or below.

maybe if u just count the pacific northwest only. the 1996 olympics were in atlanta.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
I think it went without saying that the Olympics weren't included.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
Fruck, didn't see that Pookie was in there. WOW BIG race!!!
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Early this morning the Diamond League Pre site had full entry lists in every event which the link on the front page of tfn.com still doesn't.
Now I know a couple of scratches due to some minor injury stuff have some still listed on the start list as entered who won't be but otherwise going to a great meet. Weather is going to have a negative impact on things most likely though. Forecast calling for showers and temp of about 56 when meet starts Saturday and only up to about 60 by its end. Going to be windy which will play havoc with that grand 400 everyone is excited to see. Interesting to see Dix doubling in the 100 and 200, unless of course he scratches as he has his last 4 scheduled starts in Asia and Europe.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012I get a slightly better forecast from NOAA, but I cannot remember when the meet starts:
Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 64. The are listing winds as light (5) until mid-afternoon, then only 8 (and that is at 10m up, not in the stadium). Also, little expect rain between 11am and 6 pm; what they get if that is correct is a modest amount of sprinkles. High of 64. Not great, but a little better.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
I'll go with Merritt, Taylor, James, then Wariner.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012It looks like this will be on the BBC red button interactive service from 7:20pm BST....
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Here's the latest Accu-Weather Forecast for Saturday. Times are from 9AM-4PM, meet runs from 11AM-2PM
Temp (°F) 56° 58° 59° 59° 60° 62° 64° 65° RealFeel® 58° 60° 62° 63° 64° 64° 65° 63° Wind (mph) 5 WNW 4 NW 5 NW 6 NW 6 WNW 7 W 7 WNW 8 W Humidity 79% 75% 71% 68% 66% 63% 61% 56% UV Index 2 2 3 4 4 4 3 2 Cloud Cover 97% 98% 97% 95% 94% 93% 92% 90% Dewpoint 50 50 49 49 49 50 Looks like the rain will come in overnight on Friday and the wind will be pretty mild during the meet. 4-6 MPH would be a very typical day here. Temps will be a bit cooler than usual (10-12 degrees).
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Prefontaine will be broadcast live on NBC on Saturday, June 2 from 3:00 - 4:30pm ET.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012This must be one of the most competitive fields for the men's 400 I've seen in a while, with a 45.33 being the slowest sb in the field I'm looking for this even for some fireworks!
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012

Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Why are the Kenyan Olympic Trials for the 10k being held at this meet?????
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Looks as if Robles is a scratch. I read he might have trouble with his visa?
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
Yup. http://www.registerguard.com/web/sports ... n.html.csp
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
Because the Kenyans finally figured out that they were frequently shooting themselves in the foot by choosing a low-altitude team at a high-altitude site. Even for those born and raised at altitude, it doesn't affect all people equally, so some altitude-adapted outlier frequently makes the OG/WC team (across the distance spectrum) leaving them with somebody less than competitive at sea level. We ran a chart on this about 10 years ago.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Is anybody aware of any web streaming tonight? None of my usual pirate websites list it.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
Supposed to be available at the official meet site. http://www.facebook.com/PreClassic/post ... 9852827120
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
Interesting - can you link the chart or post it again?
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012Wow just looked at the line up. This is sick. I guess everyone wants a world leading time and Eugene is the place for that. The womens 200 and 400 have me foaming at the mouth. I think Allyson will beat Jeter slightly with around a 22.15 and Jeter will get a 22.25. I think Sanya will win with a 49.70 Novlene will do 49.90 and Montsho around 50 flat. The mens 100 is also stacked and really can go in many directions but I think Gatlin and Dix will be leading the pack. I do however hope for a surprise from Carter.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
How can you say the mens 100m is stacked when you don't have Bolt, Blake and Asafa.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
Not to be crass, but a C-cup is 'stacked'; a D-cup is 'bursting'. This field is stacked.
Re: Prefontaine Classic 2012
I would say that all of these Americans SHOULD make the 100m final come trials, add in a young Nickel who I believe just ran around a 20 flat and Nesta who ran that 9.78 last year and you have yourself a pretty stacked 100m for an "exhibition".
