That's exactly what I thought. And that's why I'm so looking forward to watching European Champs this year although I was appalled first time I heard of Euros in an Olympic Year.Sailer, Lalova, Ukranians... Should be great! And long distance especially.
Not in Jena, but a pleasing European lead from Regensburg in an event at which Germany haven't been strong recently: Corinna Harrer (just 21) ran 4:05.86 over 1500. It's an A standard for London too (4:06.00) but it seems the Germans have a standard of 4:05.50 (surely they should take her though, they've been THAT weak at that event for ages!)
(Gab/Germans - there's a bit of depth in this event with Krebs under 4:08 at the WUG last year and Sujew x2 both under that indoors - why were neither in Istanbul? Or Harrer over the 3k.)
Strutz and Gadschiew 4.55 in Landau, the former on her 1st attempt, the latter her 3rd.

I don't know about Harrer but the Sujew twins were in South Africa for high altitude training at the time. I assume Harrer also skipped Istanbul for similar reasons. The amazing thing is, they are all still very young, Harrer born 91, Sujews born 90, and there is also Maren Kock, born 90, who ran an 8.55. last week. 2-3 years ago the best germans ran 4.11-13 and now you might not even qualify for London with a 4.05.
