Russian newsRussia's head coach confirmed that Russian World champions from Daegu are already in the team for the Olympic Games.
List includes eight world champions: Olga Kaniskina, Valeriy Borchin, Sergey Bakulin, Mariya Savinova, Mariya Abakumova, Anna Chicherova, Yuliya Zaripova, Tatyana Chernova and Tatyana Lysenko. These 8 don't have to compete at Russian championships in Cheboksary from July 3-6. Wild card is given to Yelena Isynbayeva also. First two in each event at Russian Champs will make the team for London (if IAAF stanadard is achieved, in most women's events it will be) and coaches will choose third athlete. European Champs will not have big role in making Olympic team and no one is obliged to compete at Euros to make the team for London but result at Euros may decide who will be that third athlete. However, selection for the European Champs is Russian team/club championships which will be held in Sochi May 26-27 and, as they said earlier,World Challenge meet in Moscow. World walk racing cup in Saransk is crucial for walkers. For combined events Russian combined events championships in Cheboksary, June 2-3. Only two places left in hepthatlon team for London since Chernova is already in team.
Re: Russian news
Do we know whether this is a mandatory meeting? This is the weekend after Gotzis, one of the few chance the multi eventers get to earn money and compete against their rivals. So, it will be interesting to see whether the Russian Federation allow Gotzis to be a qualifying meet, like they did in 2008, or whether they have to start in Cheboksary. The women's final two places should be a fierce battle between Bogdanova, Bolshova and Kurban.
Re: Russian news
Not sure if it is a mandatory meeting but Goetzis could be a qualifying meet cause they mention also that world leading result in any event could secure a place for London but they will consider each case separately. Russian Federation is flexible so we'll see.
Re: Russian newsIn the multis the nature of head-to-head competition is different.
Re: Russian newsSergey Sviridov,21, at Russian U23 Cup broke national U23 record (Aleksey Sisoyev Osaka WCh ) with 8366 points.
10.88, 7.52, 15.03, 1.94, 48.28, 14.83, 49.01, 4.40, 68.89, 4:25 Artem Lukyanenko was second, 8080.
Re: Russian news
Great score! His LJ, SP and JT were very good. Lukyanenko won the bronze in the heptathlon at the world indoors so it will be interesting to see if he can improve; that's a big thrashing he received (though still a PB by nearly 200pts) Sysoev was progressing nicely in Osaka and then his 5th place in Berlin with 8454, then bam, injured. He really did look like he was going to be a medal candidate until then.
Re: Russian news
Could you give me a link,I also want to know WOMEN,
Re: Russian news
Yana Panteleyeva 6001 This is all I found--- click on "Протоколы" www.runners.ru/region/5086-sviridov-panteleeva.html
Re: Russian news
Chernova will be the only Russian in Gotzis, others will go to Cheboksary to fight for places for Helsinki and London.
Re: Russian newsSo, Bolshova vs Bogdanova vs Kurban at the moment then. No one else seems to be at that level.
Just posted on the Multi's thread, but keen to see this match up. Bolshova's been improving nicely but still has that poor JT and 200...the same two weak events Bogdanova has. However, Bogdanova improved to 43.62 last year in Talence (only 35.41 in Beijing!) so that could be the significant difference. (Bogdanova is better over the hurdles and SP, Bolshova marginally better in the HJ, they're pretty evenly matched in the LJ, 200 and 800) No indoor meets from Bogdanova and no outdoor meet yet. Hopefully she isn't injured.
Re: Russian newsNazarova 51.95 in Moscow in her first outdoor 400m race in 20 months. Can she perhaps eke out another major champs relay appearance?
Galkina also opened her track season with 4:12.82 for 1500m and 8:59.27 for 3000m.
Re: Russian newsSochi (don't have full results)
400m- 1.Yuliya Gushina 50.26 , Kseniya Ustalova 50.48 , Nataliya Nazarova 51.37 LJ- Olga Kucherenko 7.03 SP- Yevgeniya Kolodko 20.22 Olesya Sviridova 19.72 DT- Darya Pischalnikova 67.00 100- Yuliya Katsura 11.37 1500-Yekaterina Gorbunova 4:09.16 100H- Yuliya Kundakova 13.01
Re: Russian news
Yevgeniya Kolodo already surprised me after her only +18m in 2012WIC,but Olesya Sviridova seems only passed 18m one times,17m is doutful for her,
Re: Russian news

Re: Russian news
You just need some Cyrillic script knowledge. http://www.rusathletics.com/nov/news.11419.htm
Re: Russian newsHJ- Anna Chicherova 1.97, Shustov 2.27
400H- Irina Davidova 53.87 800- Irina Maracheva 1:57.82 Cherkasova 1:59.49 http://runners.ru/images/documents/comandnui.zip
Re: Russian newsWL!!!
Re: Russian news
That's impressive He's the indoor bronze medalist right?
Re: Russian newsI believe that 53.87 is a WL in the women's 400H.
Re: Russian newsI wonder what Krivoshopka and Kapachinskya are going to open up with in the 400m.
And will Fedoriva go back to the 200 or will she stay focused on the 400? Gushina 50.26 and Ustalova 50.48 puts them 3rd and 4th respectively on the 400m list for the year thus far. I'm guessing they are also training for European Champs right?
Re: Russian newsSergey Shubenkov (21) ran a new Russian record in the 110 hurdles - 13.18!
http://meeting-herouville.com/pdf/resul ... e_2012.pdf Tatyana Lebedeva (35) will not take part in any competition until Russian Champs in July.
Re: Russian newsI think this year to an extent will be a dress rehearsal for next year's World Championships in Russia.
Re: Russian newshow about their combined select meeting in 2 and 3 in June?link I cannot find.
Re: Russian news
Kapachinskaya opened with a 51.20 but I think the weather may have been poor as the men's HJ results were low. Silnov 2.21... Just checked. The report says it was pouring with rain. Firova was second with 51.51 and old stalwart Nazarova third in 51.57 Last edited by Gabriella on Sun Jun 03, 2012 2:50 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Russian news
I am trying to find these too! Trying to get off rusathletics.com and trackandfield.ru but very difficult on my iPad! I do know that it's overcast and raining in Cheboksary today though
Re: Russian news
Do not try until it's finished tonight
Re: Russian newsPapilloma you must post them as soon as you find them
Re: Russian newsIrina Tarasova,19.11m
Anna Omarova,18.55m SB,should go on to inprove to get a oly place,RUS has three to pass 19m this year and add experienced Anna Avdeyeva, quite fierce in NC this year. Yevgeniya Solovyova,1986 born,18.03m PB,the former 52.81p heptathlete in 2007 who improve best 18.71m indoors.
Re: Russian newsVery surprising.
1.Kristina Savitskaya(21) 6681! 2.Olga Kurban 6528, 3.Yekaterina Bolshova 6466 1.Sergey Sviridov 8088, 2.Vasiliy Harlamov 8059, 3.Ilya Shkurinev 8030 Drozdov, Pogorelov, Bogdanova...did not finish results--- http://runners.ru/images/documents/mnogobor2012.pdf photos--- http://www.runners.ru/multi/photo/categ ... svoeg.html
Re: Russian newsAn enormous PB by Savitskaya (up from 5989 in 2011), a return to 2008 form for Kurban and a substantial improvement by Bolshova (up from 5738 in 2010, but remember that 4896i Pentathlon earlier this year).
If events unfold as anticipated, there will be an enormous fight for the bronze medal in London.
Re: Russian news
Apparently Shustov didn't jump again after 2.18m but I'm not overly convinced at Silnov's early-season form as he only cleared 2.21m in better conditions a few weeks ago.
Re: Russian news692 points improvement since last year; our KJT must be real envious!!
Wonder what this 21 year old( next week) will do outside Russia. Sorry, but rather sceptical. I bet our resident multi-event experts can give us the lowdown on other athletes enormous 12 month improvements.
Re: Russian news
Well, I'm not really a multi-event expert, but I did look at some IAAF biographies of past greats. Carolina Kluft improved 520 points from 2001 to 2002 (ages 18 to 19) Jackie Joyner-Kersee improved 440 points, 6718 to 7158, from 1985 to 1986 (ages 22 to 23) Natalya Dobrynska improved 406 points, 6327 to 6733, from 2007 to 2008 (ages 25 to 26) Eunice Barber improved 962 points, 5378 to 6340, from 1994 to 1995 (ages 19 to 20) Hyleas Fountain improved 467 points, 6035 to 6502, from 2004 to 2005 (ages 23 to 24) Denise Lewis improved 513 points, 5812 to 6325, from 1992 to 1994 (ages 19 to 21) with one non-PB year in between It looks like for high class, 6700+ point multievent athletes it is almost more common than not to have a big 400+ point jump from year to year at some point in their careers.
Re: Russian newsFor what it's worth, Sergey Sviridov had a 764-point improvement on his decathlon pb earlier this year, from 7601 to 8365. Even his winning score this weekend (8088)is a 487-point improvement. He's also 21.
