Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.Predictions are cheap.. it ain't gonna happen.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.forecast is a strong tailwind from the sw, although it will be warm, too warm
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday. It will not be as warm as the Olympic Marathon, and the particulars of the temperature can vary; The forecast has changed five degrees in temperature and the dew point since yesterday but could go back. It is also likely that if it is that warm, the wind will be more from the south than straight from the west. And, while windy in the afternoon, mid-morning and noon calls for only 8mph and that is the reading at 10meters up, so more like 5mph at body level. In general, the Boston forecast that centers on Logan Airport, which is on the water, you you have to be a little careful in what you use. Definitely worse than a couple of days ago and not a forecast too my liking as a runner.
They have moved the start back from noon to 10am, so that helps a bit.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.I am still looking for the first sub 60 on the easier first half. And that is a long way off.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.Yes, and once the winner crosses the finish line he will high jump 246. Guaranteed!
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.
And a tail wind makes it feel even warmer, because no breeze to cool the body.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.
Given most of the fast marathons today are run in negative splits, you are likely to see a sub-60 second half before you see a sub-60 first half.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.Well, it is mainly the winners that negative split the race (and those near) but most drop off in the second half of the second half (last quarter -- that dreaded last 10k).
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.
The real point here is that, for the time being, this sub-2 talk is pure LSD babble. It's so out there, it should be illegal.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday. It's not going to happen in Boston Monday , or IMHO ever...
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday. And before Boston, big marathon weekend: Rotterdam, Paris, Vienna, Dublin 10km race(with Bekele)...
Last year's Boston second Moses Mosop in Rotterdam.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.
And it is the winners who will have the first sub-60 second half, or certainly the first sub-2.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.
There's also the Brighton Marathon. It's not a big marathon but according to the IAAF preview, Assefa Mezegebu (blast from the past
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.Stanley Biwott on course for victory in Paris in about 2:05-2:06. About 10-12 guys passed through halfway in close to WR-pace (61:51 split) but everyone's slowed markedly (or dropped out altogether).
Rotterdam streaming here. http://nos.nl/dossier/231914-marathon-n ... /388/live/
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.Biwott actually held it together quite well with a CR of 2:05:11. Fastest non-Dubai performance of the year although I suppose a 2:05-time doesn't really impress anyone in Kenya these days.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.Feleke and Adhane were inside Makau's WR pace for much of the first half (12sec up at 20km in 58:18) although they're drifting outside his pace through 35km (1:42:34 to Makau's 1:42:16). Mosop third currently.
And incredibly, this is Adhane's fourth marathon in five months!
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.Adhane won Rotterdam in a PB of 2:04:47. Feleke also sub-2:05 with Mosop just outside.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.Splits for the leaders (not necessarily Adhane) - 14:35, 29:05, 43:42, 58:18, 1:13:00, 1:27:42, 1:42:34, 1:57:56. Not sure of the halfway split as the camera was further down the road.
Re: sub 2 hour marathon predicted monday.27:49 for Bekele in Dublin.
