Hey T&FN fans, don't forget to check out our Twitter feed today at http://twitter.com/tandfn. I'll be doing live coverage of the Texas Relays from there. Or if you're more of a Facebooker, I'll cross-post a lot of my tweets over there.

As I always warn folks every year: Don't expect me to catch everything. It's a big meet. But if I spot a big mark, I'll post it. Also: The internet connection is being a little finicky here today.

What I like so far about this years Texas Relays, and I'm only seeing it from results. Not a lot of DNF's especially in the invitational sections where you have relays being put together just to have fun and train. Must be a great show for the fans there in the stands.

Amy Acuff cleared 1.95 (6-4 3/4) on her third attempt. That's the OG A standard.

Don't know the next height.

Missed 3x at 1.98/6-6. Takes a lot to impress Dwight, and he is duly impressed by Acuff's performance

Auburn 38.30 in 4x100 to run away from a talented field in men's 4x100. They could take down the collegiate record before the year is done, just .26 off and Rowland is just returning to form so his development alone could push them under 38 seconds.

If Auburn breaks 38 seconds, we should just send them to the Olympics this year.

Sorry, these people got the stick around the track. I am not sure that qualifies for an American team.

Auburn is an all American team with the guys from Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.

Sanya had an impressive meet and looks to be in fine form 3 months prior to Trials and 4+ to the Games while Wariner is also looking strong early. Interesting JW has been racing so much in light of the injury issues he has dealth with the past couple years. Seems he would be trying to limit racing to narrower window. Will see how the strategy Clyde has mapped out plays out.

Sanya shoulda run on a guys 4x4 rather than the women's race.

Acuff's dob is 14 July 1975, which mean's she's 36y ~8-9mo for this performance. I don't have the full history of this event, but a quick scan of IAAF's all-time list (which only goes to 1.97), and peter larsson's all-time athletics list (which only goes to 1.98) suggests she may be the oldest to clear this height (and perhaps by quite a bit -- oldest I saw was Romary Rifka @ 1.97A, at 33y ~4mo). I might have overlooked someone (but I think I didn't) and of course I haven't seen the lists for 1.96 & 1.95, but if this is the case for Acuff, it's worth noting.

I for one didn't think she would return to her 2009 and earlier form -- I wasn't being a skeptic/doubter -- just looking at age -- and so I am happily surprised for this performance today.

Inga Babakova went 2.01 on her 36th birthday, by the looks of it. That would be in Oslo in 2003.

I'm not that surprised by Acuff going 1.95. It seems that high jumpers tend to keep lots of hops even after retiring. If they are good technicians, they can be good jumpers for quite a while. I'm also an Acuff fan, so I'd like to see her back at the Olympics.

Also, Babakova cleared 1.98 and 1.99 the following year when she was nearly 37. And Venelina Veneva cleared 1.98 just past her 37th birthday.

All that using pela's lists.

It is about 10.94/2.0 for a wind-legal mark (as opposed to a 'basic' (not wind) mark). Of course, there is also Austin elevation to consider...
