Thanx for the lockeroom nitro, idiot. :D

Did you read/hear the actual quotation?

From http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_ ... nts-denied ...
"We're not going to be denied," safety Antrel Rolle said of the Giants' "swagged out" mental state of mind at the moment. "We understand what we have as a team. It's not all about talent, it's all about chemistry. We're jelling at this point."

"We wouldn't say we're unstoppable but our mindset is extreme at this point and we're not going to be denied," Rolle continued. "That's our mindset. In our minds, we can't be beat."

I'm not entirely sure that's gonna get the 49ers all that angry, but they shouldn't need bulletin board quotes to get fired up for the NFC Championship Game anyway.

weather could be huge factor: 70% chance of rain, and while it'll certainly warm up once that happens, it was freezing (as in sub-30) in the Bay Area last night. NY probably a bit more used to that than the Niners.

Yes I read the actual quote. I dont recall Montana or Walsh making these kinda quotes, ever. I like their style. I appreciate the Giant player clarify the differances.

I didn't find the quotes all that terrible but if the Niners need Antrelle Rolle to fire them up they are in for a long afternoon.

I don't think that's the case though.

It's not about firing up the Nines, it's about having class and grace. I am the biggest niner fan ever, but I dont know who is gonna win this game. The Giants are a great, great team that I deeply respect and I think the game is better when that feeling is mutual.

Now....I didnt say I like the Giants, I said I respect them.

uh oh...............

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning missed out on a day of preparation leading up to Sunday's NFC Championship Game, missing part of Wednesday's practice due to a stomach illness.

Manning did not speak to the media on Wednesday as scheduled.

The Giants pre-practice injury report listed running back Ahmad Bradshaw (foot) as the only player not practicing on Wednesday, which is not unusual. Bradshaw has only been practicing on Friday's in recent weeks.

The Giants also listed defensive ends Justin Tuck (shoulder) and Osi Umenyiora (ankle, knee), cornerback Corey Webster (hamstring) and linebacker Mark Herzlich (ankle) as limited in practice

Show an NFL game where the goal wasn't to wreck havoc and knock as many players out of the game as you could and we aren'y hearing...."you do that again @%$#% and I'll I'll..."...I will kiss your ass. This is a very very vicious/violent sport. To try and.."now let's play nice :D "....

I thought it was clear I was talking about spouting off BEFORE the game. Trash talking DURING the game is a huge and wonderful part of the this great sport. I love the fact that we have a violent defense, I have personally yelled "KILL HIM!" during the game.

Before the game I prefer the silent and confident assasin, not a loud mouth poddle.

You may bring up ALI, well theres only one Ali! Its alot like lesser guitar players burning and breaking their guitars after Hendrix did it first, it just doesnt play. GO NINERS! :D

I got what you were talking about, my point was it's a game all about violence. Not unlike boxing/MMA. I expect to hear..."we're gonna....grrrrr!!!!"....at the pro level. It adds fire to things. I don't wanna hear/see a bunch of....nice n' sweet. When we all know that's phoney. I wanna know that receiver and db are out to show the other one up. That back will run right over that backer if given the chance, obviously that backer doesn't see it that way. I like that :D

I just heard a pro linebacker on talk radio and he said there is "holding" on EVERY play, sometimes it's called and sometimes it's not. I suspected this but it was nice to be confirmed.

The powers that be really do need to fix that. No you can't just grab a guy...but...unless it's ..wrestling....let it go. I've held in HS games many times and it was never called. I bet every football game ever played has had holding on every play.

Pass interference needs to treated like it is in the college game. Ok...15 yards. Not as devastating as it is in the pro game. I'm all for the QB can throw the ball away if it just isn't working, no need to be anywhere just throw it away. Shine all that...challenge...stuff. That can only be done for change of possesions/scoring plays.

Given the tweaks to the rules in recent years that benefit the passing game, is it not possible that the numbers have reached record numbers in spite of there perhaps being more medicore passers in the league than in past years? (To say nothing of gloves to which balls apparently stick like super glue)

It's not a level playing field with great names of the past who put up "inferior" numbers.

Now you're preaching to the choir. Passing numbers would have gone up even if defense wasn''t gradually being taken out of the game due to technological and equipment advances, but the rule changes only exacerbated the situation. Let's revisit what's lead to the video game numbers of today's NFL.

    1) liberalized pass blocking rules
    2) elimination of bump-and-run pass coverage
    3) elimination of the head-slap technique of pass rushers
    4) draconian use of the roughing-the-passer penalty
    5) indoor stadiums, artificial surfaces and/or natural grass with state of the art drainage, irrigation and heating systems
    6) receiver's gloves that are much tackier than bare hands especially in cold weather

Let's break it down....

Niners....nothing compared to what they have had
Rams...a rookie more or less.
Seahawks....hahaha!
Cards...huh?
Giants...great QB
Cowboys...good.
Eagles...???
Redskins...hahahaha!
Saints...amazing QB.
Falcons....potenial to be great.
Buc's...average.
Panthers...a great rookie.
Lions....best theY have had in a long time.
Vikings...hahahaha!
Bears...solid.
Packers...amazing QB
Raiders...?????
Chargers....down year.
Chiefs...hahahaha!!!!
Broncos...unique.
Steelers...great QB
Browns....hahaha!!!!!
Bengals...????
Ravens...good.
Colts...bad.
Jags...bad.
Titans...????
Texans...good.
Pats...amazing QB.
Jets..regressed.
Bills...down.
Dolphins...hahaha!!!!

Rodgers, Eli Manning, Brady, Big Ben, Brees are the only ones I'd call...Great. Sooooo many teams weak at the QB position. Sure there are some good ones but not like it once was. Nope not going to do our usual. I've seen a lot of football, can't remember seeing so many teams weak at the QB postion.

Only the Lions, Pats, Ravens, Panthers, Texans and Saints having the best QB they've ever had. Big Ben vs Bradshaw? All the rest have seen better days.
