Looks like a terrific 2-part "series" starting on American Experience on PBS tonite. This one Billy The Kid, two weeks from now General Custer:

Ah yes the best of the west! A cold hearted killer and a blow hard egotistical, suicidal general. Who's next? Butch Cassidy and the kid? Personally I prefer Al Swearengen (c-skr supreme).

Speaking of Calamity Jane, the wife and I finally got "Deadwood" from Netflix. It took me 2 episodes to get used to the language, and my wife 5-6. Now she loves to use the cskr word when someone drives badly, and with a british accent. I'm calling her Calamity Jen.

The Billy The Kid thing was pretty well done, I thought. Has me looking forward to the Custer episode.

Whether by design or accident, the documentary also portrayed Billy as right-handed, not falling for the left-handed trap that many have fallen into because the only picture of him in existence turns out to be reversed.

I agree they did a good job. Especially addressing the specific myths as they "shot them down." They picked the perfect guy for the voiceover in Michael Murphy. His calm but resonant voice sounded like someone's Grandfather relating the story as he had seen it play out himself firsthand.

Thanks for the heads-up, BTW.
