Don't look now, but Timmy (can't make it in the NFL) Tebow just won his fifth game in a row, 5th road win, and is 6-1, after taking over from Kyle (1-4) Orton. He's taken Denver from LAST in the AFC West to FIRST. He made all the throws today including one that the receiver shoulda had, throwing 40y into the teeth of an all-out blitz.
For those who think he can't make it, he is everything Ben Ruthlessburger is and more.
And who lookest STOOPIDEST now? The Jaguars, who would have filled every seat in the stadium here with him on the team . . . as the water boy!!
And now we've been sold to Chaka (Tell Me Something Good) Khan, who'll probably move us to Funkytown!!

Who also passed on Andy Dalton this year
And local talk is that there's be gonna be a big clean-out of coaches at year's end. Meanwhile, the GM who orchestrated this debacle just reupped for 3 more years!
As a Vikings fan, I was getting angry watching that game, so I mostly followed it online via updates. I think that Ponder gave a winnable game away. Kudos to him that it was a winnable game, considering Adrian Peterson was out. But a number of turnovers just killed them. Their season is toast, so any development of Ponder is a plus.
As a former Gator, I think that Tebow is fun to watch. I think that the Denver staff is making good adjustments as the game goes on that the opposition just isn't picking up on. I don't think that he is a good QB, but they are winning games. Though the Vikings pretty much suck, so a close win is not a big feather in the hat for Denver. Denver is operating on smoke and mirrors at this point, and it should come crashing down at some point. The weird thing is that it hasn't crashed down.
Yesterday was the best Tebow has looked. He looked just like a real NFL QB. He threw a couple passes that couldn't have been thrown any better by anyone (as Marlow alluded to).
I'm listening to some NFL talk show, it was all about can he stay healthy in a 16 game season doing his ..I could play fullback you know....bit? That is a very legit question/concern. We all know those defensive players are dying to break him in half, how long before somebody does? He's not going to be out running/out quicking guys like Vick, he's gonna have some collisions. Can he play like he does and survive?
I'm really hoping the SI cover jinx is "enabled" this weekend. The Tebow mania here in Colorado has become intolerable. No one seems to get that he ain't gonna win playoff games and Super Bowls if he only shows up to play part of the 4th quarter.

As Darrell Royal used to say about James Street - he doesn't do much; he just wins.

The maniacs who peck away about college [distance runners or ask where Webb is now] —that's a fringe cluster, a merry fellowship of kooks and obsessives, and sometimes it sounds like it's the same 12 people yelling at each other, over and over.

James Street - now there's a blast from the past.
Yes, from the all-too-delayed end of a very shameful era in Texas (and many other states, for that matter).

Oh, you mean like the last 50 years of professional (PEDs) sports, including ours? Wringing our hands over the sins of our fathers (and brothers and sons) does very little to ameliorate the situation. We're all trying to 'do better', even the people picking up the pieces at Penn St.
Here it is the biggest regular season game of the season as far as interest goes. I'm hearing that the media/non sports media also have invaded Denver. Can Tebow do it again? If he does it will be similiar to Moses parting the Red Sea......trust me. If he throws that game losing INT watch how quickly...."he's ok vs weak teams"....hahaha!!! Don't take my word for it, watch what happens. Football people are dying to play that, most are tired of the show. There's Aaron Rodgers having a season unlike any other and a fullback/QB is getting all the attention....ain't right!
I was watching Army vs Navy, as we know those two teams are all about run, run, run, throw. Tebow would have been perfect there.I always ask myself..."why would anyone wanna play wide receiver for Army/Navy?"

Well, I dare say the current Tebow mania is probably far more mainstream than the T&F faithful. And as far as "kooks and obsessives . . don't I feel like that often when I find myself in a conversation of "normal" folks and bring up a track and field topic or athlete no one ever heard about and they all look at me like I was from Mars.

I learned long ago to not even try. I'm tired of the concerned looks back at me as they walk away shaking their heads. It was as if I had just told asked them something about medieval torture devices . . . The truth is there aren't very much of us, and even we think the others here are crazy!
Just poured the first cup of coffee this Sunday morining, turned on NFL Gameday to get my fix and get ready for another NFL Sunday. You'll never guess who was being talked about.

Funny SNL skit last night about TT. Jesus comes into the locker room, tells Tebow to 'turn it down a notch' and asks the Broncos to at least meet him half-way to win a game. He's tired of having to show up every week in the 4th quarter to bail them out.

Spoken like someone who hasn't seen it in 10? SNL has always been hit or miss. Weekend Update is almost always good and the skits are about a 40% proposition right now, which is why YHWH invented the DVR. I can watch an episode in under 30 minutes (longer if the musical guest is good. Michael Bublé almost put me to sleep last night. He is so . . . mellow) and be very amused.
Well, if God actually does take a hand in the outcome of football games, evidently he at least has a sense of humor. Not only did the Denver Tebows fail to beat New England, but in his first full game as starter in Kansas City, Kyle Orton -- the guy Denver fans blame for their team sucking these past couple of years -- tossed for 299 yards in a win over the heretofore undefeated Packers.
Two weeks from now, on New Years Day, KC visits Denver. Could be an interesting game. It would be more than a little ironic if Orton & co. drive a stake through the heart of Denver's playoff chances.

I see it's already up on 'ThatPlace'.

If the Broncos do plan on going with Tebow then get him a couple tightends, a speed receiver and a big power back. Bring the TE's in which gives a run look. Tebow cantake it from there.

As an SNL lifer, I'd put some of the recent skits up against the best of the early days. The one with Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga was great. As for the Tebow piece, it's up on Hulu, which is legitimate, correct? I first saw it linked on the Huffington Post site.

I agree, Walt. SNL had good and bad skits thirty years ago and have good and bad skits today. Sometimes, ya gotta have a thick skin but they kinda go both ways comedically.
Naww, Marlow, I have tried on occasion to watch, but the stuff just sucks in my opinion. That's why there are so many entertainment outlets -- not everyone likes the same stuff. You would probably hate the stuff I enjoy!
