...Snell, Walker, Dixon (Oly bronze in '72!), Quax, Polhill, for a few others--almost all while we were hanging on Ryun and occaisional flashes of greatness from Liquori, Waldrop, Wottle, etc.
All these runners reaped big benefits from having "dreaded foreigners" compete in their meets during the northern hemisphere winter. Sort of like the exposure American collegians get by racing foreign athletes. Welcome aboard, Willis!
BTW, Walker himself complained a few years back that NZ youth were too lazy to train hard, that all they wanted to do was play video games.
Maybe there was a nation-wide computer game shortage, and how can WE get the same--?
