IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011, 2012Hello, did anyone of you take part in the IAAF Fantasy Game for Diamond League?
It has been over a month since Diamond League is finished and there is no single update on final standing on IAAF website and no chance to comment there(or just I cannot find where). I am not gonna win but we should see if that was just waste of time... Last edited by pakillo on Fri Nov 23, 2012 6:00 am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011and there were some prizes. I hope somebody actually got something
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011We think that one of the posters here won it (Flumpy). But we never heard anymore more since the IAAF didn't publish the final scores (worst three thrown out), so who knows? Maybe they're waiting two years to announce the final tally to account for future WADA positives that may necessitate them to handicap some of our 40 point captains to -10 pts?
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011There are waiting so they can firmly entrench the game as the most poorly run fantasy game in the history of fantasy sports. I don't think they actually had to wait this long to win the prize however.
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
Flumpy had heard nothing from them and received no prize at all Utter shambles
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011yes... it`s gonna be two months soon and they seem quiet about it...
By the way, I think Zurich points was a total mess
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
Here is Zurich http://iaafworldathleticsclub.org/Fanta ... spx?mid=16 I can't remember the details though. What was messed up?
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
Well, Zurich points from your link could be correct (as far as I remember) but this is the first time I see that. When I log in even now I can`t see those numbers for Zurich. What I saw for me and some teams I went through was more points than it should have been... I just know I waited for recalculation after Zurich, cause it was usual that first points they give are full of mistakes but recalculation never happened. Later, I wasn`t sure if Brussel was ok.
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
Right, they never did post the links but the pages do exist. Here is the link to the Brussels DL points. http://iaafworldathleticsclub.org/Fanta ... spx?mid=17
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
Thanks!
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011Yep I never heard anything.
The results were nevwer updated and although it seems as if i won it's never been confirmed. It goes without saying I haven't recieved a prize and I think i speak for everyone when I say that we won't be taking part next year
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
I think I speak for everyone when I say they totally fooled us and it is insulting for all who participated I can`t imagine they would dare to offer the game next year after this. But guess there is still some chance for contacting the winners We need Occupy Diack in Monte Carlo protest
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011While I agree with all the criticism, I do have to repeat that I enjoyed the competition. The prize was pretty irrelevant. I think, it was supposed to be a digital camera. Oh well, mine still does what I need. Hopefully, mump and Flump will reconsider and play again next year, DL and OG's, if available.
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
Even as the floor mat for our group I enjoyed the friendly rivalries. I'll be back, for better or worse.
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
This could just be perfect for you ! http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=42288&hilit=Sit+in+Sit+IAAF+HQ
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011I absolutely agree that prize was irrelevant, but if we don`t get any confirmation the game is officially over...
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011Exactly.
I didn't even know what the prize was so not particularly bothered about not getting it, but there is absolutely no point in entering a competition if there is no final result.
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011Couldn't we just declare the winners as the current top 20? And at least 8 of them are regulars here!
1 Flumpy Flumpy's Team 1217pts 2 Robert Simanovic Deuce 1211pts 3 palmiro candreva Miro's Team 1205pts 4 mump boy mump boy 1186pts 5 Uupu Lepäävä Lopen Uupuneet 1181pts 6 Clive Wickham Vincitori 1178pts 7 Thomas Rae Riekki Tricky T's Team 1177pts 8 Aleksejs Slapakovs CONGRATILATION FLUMPY 1167pts 9 Nicardo McLean Nicky Picky's Aggregation (JAM) 1164pts 10 Steven Parmentier Steven Parmentier's Team 1152pts 11 Valentin Lecourt Valou's Team 1149pts 12 Paul Young Young Guns Track Squad (Aust) 1147pts 13 jeremyp jeremyp's Team 1146pts 14 Leo Campbell Leo Campbell's Team 1146pts 15 amos bianchi amos bianchi's Team 1143pts 16 James Murray JNathletics 1143pts 17 MarcoBR Marco BR's Team 1143pts 18 John Greig Bushy Park All Stars 1140pts 19 pego pickled cauliflower 1132pts 20 Pol Parmentier Pol Parmentier's Team : this game is really 'fantasy' and has nothing to do with predicting results. it's gambling : who will not be caught for dope abuse ... who will not be disqualified.. 1129pts am I missing anyone?
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011WAHOOO!!!
I'm a winner. I'd like to thank God. My mum for giving birth to me. My brother for attending meetings around the world with me and most importantly the immortal Ms Merlene Ottey
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
And your fans from around the globe I`m not in top 20
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011I never had any idea what the prize was but for the effort that everyone out in for months to come to nothing is just plane rude
Imagine at the world champs marathon when the runners enter the stadium, everyone had left and the lights are out, they all have to mill around by themselves for a while and then make their own way back to the village. Absolutely no point to the whole game
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
Yes of course my fans. I wouldn't be anyone without my fans. I love them all so much.
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011
What's the statue of limitation on DQ'ing performances? Isn't it about 4 or 5 years? So, the results won't be official until that period passes.
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011Seems it is very common not to give away prizes in fantasy games. I saw some people complaining about it but in this case its cross-country skiing and some north American magazine(at least not FIS=international ski federation like, IAAF in this case)...
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011I've tried emailing through the website but the messages don't go.
I've given up now. Will track someone down in Istanbul
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011Still nothing, Flumpy?
Re: IAAF Fantasy Athletics 2011, 2012Has anyone confirmed that they really sent the prizes this year? Just curious
