Sexist members at Augusta to be taken out and thrashedSexist members at Augusta to be taken out and thrashedWill he win, finish in the top 10, make the cut? Four months of rust is hard to overcome. Big muscles should work fine, but those little yippy ones can kill ya. My call is: Tiger makes the cut and shoots +3 for 4 rounds and finishes in 18th place.

Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeI would just love it if when they announce his name at the first tee there was dead silence. No booing, no smartass comments. Just silence.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeThis isn't an Open course, it's Augusta, and you have to favor him. He's played every conceivable shot numerous times and it's very muscle memory friendly.
I have no idea how he's feeling or how many rounds he's played in the last two months. But this layout is for mashers who can putt and if has a resonable stroke going he should do well. Tee to green I see no problems.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeIn any given golf tournament, even Tiger is not 50% + to beat the field. Ergo, I pick him not to win.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
Zackly. He'll make the cut, but he'll be back a ways. If he's in the top 5, watch out Jack, cuz the Majors record will go sooner than later!
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeI wouldnt be shocked if he misses the cut or wins, he's a woundedTiger, very dangerous and unpredictable.
I think he will barley make the cut and then post a good round or two. Top 20.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
Rye observation.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeAfter sowing his wild oats.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeTiger remains one of my favorite athletes of all time, and I can "forgive" him for being a sleaze-bag, but this kind of thing really turns me off:
<<...When Tiger Woods plays the Masters, people will realize he hasn't changed at all within the confines of a golf course. Not that he should, necessarily, given his astounding track record in the game, but he has a don't-touch-me approach to the media that falls somewhere between arrogance, insecurity and cowardice. I saw a lot of Jim Murray, the great L.A. Times columnist, at work during his prime years. He was so revered within the athletes' community, superstars felt honored to be interviewed by him. That's how it is in golf with Dan Jenkins, the unquestioned master of humor, historical perspective and getting a feel for someone. Jenkins recently recalled that he once made an effort to get to know Woods over dinner, even if Tiger wanted everything off the record - and the closest he ever got was a message from Woods' agent: "We have nothing to gain."...>> Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... z0kFBu8zK1
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeIt's pretty obvious the sport? of golf needs Tiger Woods. I think he'll be a little off for a few tournaments. Then as time goes on and golf fans start to forget, it'll be like old times. Not unlike the Michael Vick situation.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeI just hope Tiger makes good choices --- such as choosing the right club, when he's between tee and green...
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
Well at yeast i didnt bring up his ability to hop from one bed to another.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
This is getting corny.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeTiger wins in a runaway..........making it one of the greatest "comeback" stories in sports history.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeI hope the best for Tiger and want to see him do well. I was a little turned off in his interview by his talk regarding sponsors and trying to win them back. If your as rich as Tiger, does it really matter if you ever did a single endorsement again in your life?
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeHis foundation could well use the money.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeI am kinda with Sally.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
She says:
I guess I'm a total sap, because when he was asked what his father would have thought of all this (prev i'view), he had a genuine hurt look on his face. I really do think he understands how badly he effed up, and wants to PROVE that there is more so his persona than the facade he's built. I believe he IS contrite now, after rehab. But did anyone else notice the part about his wife? I think she's GONE, and his focus will be on his kids.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeHe'll finish top 5. His putting (which has been his Achilles' heel when it comes to crunch time) will decide which spot in the top 5 he finishes.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeI find it quite interesting that she's still itchy about his statements in a press conference that is a month old. That's over and done. He doesn't have to worry about trying to be Superman anymore in the eyes of the public; just be a man. Anyway, I always knew he'd make the Masters his first tournament upon his return, so it was no surprise to me. Why is it a surprise to everyone else?
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeNo surprise to me. I admire his golfing skills but have never thought much of him as a person or role model so nothing has changed.
While not condoning his pecadillos, it is really none of my business. The only person he has to resolve his problems with is his wife. The rest of us should just butt out.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomewow.... great bit of analysis by Ms. J:
<<.... It's not good for business if fans decide Woods's "legendary focus" is just compulsion, his "competitive fire" is just epic selfishness, and his "quest for history" is just insatiability....>>
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
I agree completely. All this analysis nonsense, about Woods acknowledging his 'fans' etc. Who cares?
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
I really doubt that. It's more likely stupid sports writers (present company excepted!) who really get all out of wrack about Woods' behavior.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
Wrack and roll, man!

Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomewith his wife not there, he won't be having any sex....
bet your life on that one..
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome
Interesting discussion on Nike's new ad on the Golf Channel yesterday. Earl's voice and Tiger's expression . . . very, very . . . eerie. Is it a commercial rip-off of a voyeuristic nature, or Nike trying to come to grips with its commitment to him? Very interesting ploy. Not sure HOW I feel about it.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomesaw the ad this morning...
does any one at nike have a sense of taste????? or is it just about making money for them... next ad we'll have pre from the grave talking to rupp.......
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcomeMy initial reaction was that it was creepy and in bad taste.
Maybe Nike figures they have to address it and they'll run this ad for a couple of days, take the PR hit, before bringing Tiger back in more "normal" ads.
Re: Tiger at the Masters, call the outcome<<....you remembered how his father, Earl, publicly characterized the 20-year-old Tiger back in 1996:
"He will transcend this game and bring to the world a humanitarianism which has never been known before. I know that I was personally selected by God himself to nurture this young man. Tiger will do more than any other man in history to change the course of humanity." Turns out the plan fell a little bit short. Turns out that Tiger is one of the colossal phonies of our time, nothing at all like the man portrayed by his family, handlers, sponsors and Web site....>> Read more: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.c ... z0kWj8UEZz

Say again? What an idiot. Woods is a golfer, and not some dickhead politician, a number of whom I could name but won't, who babbles on about 'family values' and then dumps their wife at the soonest opportunity. In some cases more than once. As lonewolf said this is between Mr. and Mrs. Woods.
