Do you mean Philippe Candeloro? Who was quite interesting. And athletic.

My favorite skating moments of the past few years all involve Johnny Weir. Each year he's got a new coach and a new can-do attitude. Then he falls 3 or 4 times and finishes way down the standings. And then they interview him, and he cries like a baby girl during the interview. It's great TV.

Favorite skating moment of all time: 1992 Olympics when Midori Ito went out of control on a triple jump and crashed through the sideboards.[/quote]

that's who i meant thankyou, my friend siobhan used to be slightly obsessed with him. he was a great showman as i remember he did a great 3 musketeers routine one year

midori ito falling out the rink was hilarious. it was 91 worlds

i had cable in the 90's so saw all this stuff don't have it anymore Sad

candeloro? oh... eeew... yuck... puke... ahem.

whatever happened to sandhu? he was so graceful. too bad he wasn't a big jumper.

i hope someone beats plushenko in vancouver. nothing against him, but he's just a big jumper for me. i don't like his skating much.

does anyone know which women have landed a triple axel besides ito? please don't no one mention that trailer trash TH. i know she's officially the 2nd one to do it but she only did it once in competition, and it was so ugly and graceless, it was like a trailer park hippo landing a triple axel.

and how many women have landed a quad successfully?

Emmanuel Sandhu was a headcase. His personal life and lack of fitness kept him out of contention most years. Some of his problems probably stem from those Canadian Olympic Committee fuckheads not sending him to the 1998 Olympics even though he qualified.

Miki Ando is the only woman to successfully complete a quad jump in competition while Mao Asada and Kimmie Meissner have landed the triple axle in recent memory.

thanks, cullman. i haven't followed FS for a few years but now it's on all the time on univ. sports so i can watch the grand prix series.

i think i heard sometime ago that a russian girl had also landed the triple axel, so that'd make it five women so far: ito, the-one-that-shall-not-be-named, the russian, meissner and asada.

just watched the grand prix of japan on tv. who said FS is not a dangerous sport? the russian pair attempted a throw quad and poor kavaguti landed almost on her face. that was ugly. of course, they kept showing the fall over and over again on replay. why would they even attempt it? i mean, she's fallen badly on it before. (oh btw, mumpsy, have you noticed how hunky some of the men in pairs skating are???? kavaguti's partner, smirnov, is such a handsome hunk, and you should look up larionov too).

also in the men's finals, several men fell on their quads, but not joubert. the quad is just so crazy. how can anyone spin 4 times and not fall??? insane.

also, noticed in the pairs competition that no one does that crazy death spiral spin that dimitriev used to do with his partners (first mishkutenok then kazakova), in which the woman is basically spinning upside down, with one leg down, and one up, and her head is down almost to the ground. the pairs routines are so dangerous, it scares me to watch them, several times, it looked like the woman's head was so close to hitting the ice. crazy. and of course, everyone remembers when that poor german woman (mandy woetzel?) fell on her chin.

The Russian's name is Ludmila Nelidina , who hasn't done anything remarkable other than landing a triple axel.

Yukari Nakano also landed a triple axel -- on the same day in the same competition as Nelidina.
