I remember reading about an election in which one member of a general assembly won his seat by one vote and his seat also put his party in control of the legislature. One vote does count sometime.

When I was a senior in High School, I really wanted to be elected Captain of the Cross Country team. And I won the election, a vote of all teammates ! I voted for myself, and found out later that I had won by one vote, and the other guy voted for me rather than himself. You gotta look out for # 1 !
