What were GM thinking?Is it really possible they did not see this coming (>$4/gallon gas)? Why don't they have anything ready to go?
"They" are waiting for the necessary critical mass among the U.S. public to get to the point that the average citizen (even Libs) are so irate that they will condone/endorse an invasion of Saudi Arabia to take possession of the oil fields.
I'm sure I remember reading that if the US raised its pathetic fuel efficiency standards to something like 24 or 26 mpg it wouldn't need to buy middle eastern oil at all.
Please tell me people are queueing up to buy hybrids or economical, fuel efficient cars over there? Over here, the more gas you guzzle, the more tax you pay on the car and it's a significant amount of money. I don't drive but I think it's something like $120 for a hybrid and $400-450 for an SUV-type vehicle.
All car sales are down except for honda. Civic is now the most popular. GM just shut down four plants in the US that make SUV's.
