Who will be the next President of the USA?

Normally open July 4th only---the one day a year when partisan politics, religion, etc. are acceptable topics on this Board (within reason). The forum is now closed.

In 2009, the President of the USA will be...

Barack Obama (Dem)
10
71%
John McCain (Rep)
3
21%
Other (explain!)
1
7%

Total votes : 14

It is testimony to just how pathetic the current administration has been that the Dems were able to run a black man against a woman, either one of which should have a fairly easy time against the Rep candidate.

Instead of "Other," I was going to add:

(3) Bob Barr (Libertarian)

(4) George W. Bush (National "emergency" preempts election)

But, I thought those options would be silly.

I believe one of the papers produced by that right wing think tank Cheney is on the board of was about scenarios where a sitting president could indefinitely delay handing over the reins in a crisis.

...same think tank that wrote the paper on an American Empire in the Middle East that started with Iraq and then Iran.
