It's amazing that anybody in this day and age would think that could be sent out and stay between the involved parties, and not find it's way someplace like here on this board.

Feel free to send it to everyone you know; still doesn't justify its ending up on this site.

In a nutshell, AB blasted JS as a lying drug pusher and insinuated that the whole HSI group are drug cheats and said that JS's chickens will be coming home to roost real soon.

I actually agree with you, just find it stunning that anyone sends stuff like that in the first place anymore.
Then again, maybe the person sending it WANTED out in the open.

Me too
I think Speedster was well aware that this thread would be pulled immediately but it only takes a couple of us to have read it to make sure it gets talked about in all the right places.
I've never known a drug scandal to blow up so fast.

Of course they wanted it out there. Can someone PM me as to who the letter is from. I've been trying to work it out but can't? Am i being stupid. Who is AB???
Now I don't really believe it. The whole thing reeks of desperate damage limitation. I think he's clever enough to write this and leak it, therefore making himself look innocent. Cos I don't believe for a minute that the others where and he wasn't.
Did you take the time to read the letter? It will be interesting to see if someone takes ownership soon. I think they will.
It's obvious who it is. The person who wrote it didn't try very hard to disguise his identity. Clue: 9.86x4 and 19.77
Yeah I read that bit wrong 1st time round. It's very cleverly written to absolve him of any blame. I thought it was a dynamite expose at first but clearly it's a very clever attempt at deflecting negative attention from himself.
If this is indeed written by AB, we're supposed to believe that he trained w/ HSI for a decade and only just now is tumbling to the fact that (alleged) drug abuse was in place? That doesn't ring quite true.
Anybody else remember that AB signed a non-disclosure agreement w/ Victor Conte? At least the SJ Mercury News so said during the BALCO stuff a couple of years back.
I just read it on letsrun. AB has always come across as an articulate and concise sort of guy, these ramblings don't seem close to what I have seen of him in the past.
And...there goes the memory of the 90's best athletes.
AB mentioning, Q, Steve and Young is...well, bringing things WAAAAAAAAAAY back!
This is such a Soap Opera, but a really tragic one. In many ways, this could be a Great flood in which we wash away all of the past crap and start a new. I just hope the sport can recover. It really is on its last legs now!
Incidentally, there was a big exhibition in Dublin today and the star piece was a painting of athletes snorting the lines on a track with Chemists on the podium. The response it got leads me to believe that no one has any sort of faith in the credibility of T&F anymore. Very sad.
What a great big mess, and if this letter is legitimate, then its author is an absolute disgrace- regardless of his claims are true and just- doesn't he realise that sensationalism like this WILL destroy the sports image and thus his very career!

he doesn't care he's just trying to get himself off the hook. Not sure anybody is going to buy it though. It's reeks to me of another Trevor Graham 'syringe' moment. Must have seemed like a really good idea at the time but certain to blow up in his face.

Would it be too much to put the thought out there, that someone wrote the letter pretending to be AB and thus proving guilt by desperation!
The Conspiracy theories are endless. I just can't believe someone like AB would be this stupid!

You might recollect that less than a year ago, Kenenisa Bekele's running career was allegedly over, or at the very least he had lost all power and his prospects looked dim, and many of you bought it hook, line, and sinker.
curiouser and curiouser . . . seems that there's blood in the water and the sharks are circling. It would be hard to be there and not get bitten, even if you're the one chumming the water.
For what it's worth, Ato himself has posted a related topic on his website as recently as today, and hasn't refuted the letter. You'd think he would be the first to cry foul if he didn't write it.

went to letsrun for the first time ever. wow that site's a trainwreck. anyway, that is the most incoherent letter I've ever read. I'm not sure what it said. I guess it's the email equivalent of drunk dialing an ex.

He didn't?
"If I wrote a letter to anyone it would not be seen online. I have been online since 1995, and you have never seen that anywhere from me. It's a good fabrication, but a fabrication nonetheless, bait for the internet boards and press I suppose to make the story bigger than it already is."
