Must be related to Brian Theriot - late 70s 400 phenom (46.9) and, of course, later a stellar nationally ranked 8/15 guy.
Is this Brian? A little more information about past marks and events? What relays are they running at Arcadia? I've booked a ticket to Arcadia...my son will be running a couple relays as well.
BRIAN THERIOT hit the boards a few months ago and caused a bit of a stir. I guess you may not have been paying attention, but BRIAN THERIOT loves to pump himself and his family up. http://mb.trackandfieldnews.com/discuss ... hp?t=28694 http://mb.trackandfieldnews.com/discuss ... hp?t=28684 O'Doyle rules! Thanks...yes, seems to be a lot of intensity.
Everything you wanted to know about BT but were afraid to ask.

While a couple of years old, here is a nice article about his older son and some rather unconventional training...apparently the boy is doing very well and attributes much of his success to his father...

humble thoughtsit is owed all to these coaches:
Bob Hailey - legendary track coach NHHS Dick Theriot - father Don Lent - football coach NHHS Rocky Ford- football coach NHHS Bill Pizzica - football coach NHHS Larry Doyle - football coach NHHS Hank Cochrane - football coach NHHS Jim Bush - greatest college track coach in history Bob Larsen - without Bob nothing would have happened Payton Jordan Tony Ciarelli - best weight coach in the nation - throws HS and Olympic Lifts Art Venegas - UCLA Track and field Hal Harkness - UCLA track and field Bill Emmerton - legendary distance runner John Smith - 440 mentor and guidance counselor to being fast and brash NHHS football 73, 74, 2003, 2004 Jeff Brinkley NHHS football head coach John Walker - miler mentor, roommate, honored to know the man Ray Flynn, miler mentor, honored to know the man Andy Norman Brit - gave us boys a shot overseas Steve Scott - hell like training 1983 Stockholm, never saw a horse like this man in training UCLA teammates 76-80 NHHS Football - it built the attitudes there you have it football mentality breeds 800 and 1500 success In OC - partially why I jumped on - the loss of the bonafide frosh soph division for competitiion, long and boring dual meets, 400 meters runners that dont use blocks, no sweats for warm ups, invitational meets that do not allow the athletes to bring their sweats onto the track, bracelet bs rules by the CIF, coaches that allow track athletes to miss meets for lacrosse and soccer, schools that do not have their football players in the sprints, jumps, and the throws - a crime.... we are seeing the devaluation yearly of a once great sport forget about the drugs drama - heck that has been in professional sports longer than track BACK TO BASICS BACKTO HELL WEEK BACK TO REAL TRAINING BACK TO AL FRANKEN MEET PROMOTIONS MAJOR SPONSORS PEPSI SUNKIST 30 OR MORE SCHOLARSHIPS FOR TRACK AND FIELD BOYS - WE ARE SEEING A SPORT BEING DEPLETED AND I SEE IT EACH WEEK IN HS TRACK
Re: humble thoughts
Actually - here in north Florida, track is stronger than ever. We had over 100 on a team that averaged 50-60 for years and years. Yesterday, at our District Championships, records were falling like rain. It was sweet to see our sport so healthy down here at the grass roots.
Re: humble thoughts
Oh, you're only going to be here for a week?
Re: humble thoughts
GOOD TO HEAR IT. God bless Florida cuz here in The OC - track athletes are seemingly going the way and coaches too, not all of the coaches, of not staying focused, too many spring breaks, ski week, cotillion, junior life guards, etc. I just got into it last week as its spring break in the OC and my daughter wanted to go to Palm Springs the day after trabuco invitational and before arcadia...my simple answer: "Do you think Turquoise and the Long Beach Poly girls are in the family van enroute to Palm Springs?" Palm Springs was nixed at the Theriot household. Just like the BS ski week. Hey in florida, imagine that the schools give a BS week off for ski week in the winter? I gag out here in the OC.
Re: humble thoughts
I too am gagging in shock that a teenage girl would rather go to Palm Springs than jump over barbed wire.....What has happened to this generation?
I too live in OC. It isn't quite as bad as all that, at least not in the less afluent parts further from the beach.
My son had practice every day during spring break. He never had an option of a spring break vacation as my wife and I work. He warms up in sweats and trainers and only takes them off and puts spikes on a couple minutes beforing going to the line. Many (not all) 400 runners on his team start in blocks. He doesn't yet because he is only a 51 kid destined to move up and since he hasn't worked out of the blocks much, he is very rough and it actually slows him a little. The distance talent in OC is very high right now. The sprints and 8 is a little low. But, the trend is currently a high focus on cross country. I don't know why distance running has made such a resurgence in popularity.. Maybe the Pre movies of ten years ago, or Maybe the Webb/Ritz/Hall years had something to do with it. But, I think the trend in OC is the same as the national trend...many very high quality distance runners and a few world class athletes. The quantity of quality is unlike any I have seen in this area since the 70s, and the quantity of athletes participating in high school distance running is at an all time high. I think more attention can be paid to the development of sprinters and development of middle distance specialists. They really don't have any off-season options.

HERE YOU GO STALLION THIS WILL KEEP YOU OUT OF THE GLUE FACTORY "THEY DONT WRITE ABOUT GOLF CARTS AND THE SPRING BREAKERS IN -PALMS SPRINGS - THERIOT" Tina is a junior at Coronahttp://www.dailypilot.com/sports/ HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD PREVIEW: At the track, it’s Battle of the Theriots By Soraya Nadia McDonald Daily Pilot Updated: Saturday, April 12, 2008 12:21 AM PDT ......” [b][unacceptable cut & paste removed by mods] Brian Theriot Vice President Entertainment Marketing Escher Creative & Entertainment Marketing (949) 632-4650 cell - PRIMARY (949) 548-6625 - Office FAX: (949) 548-8133 btheriotnl@aol.com (mobile email & primary email) 2005 Paloma Drive Costa Mesa, CA 92627
lol, I could be wrong, but that seems just a tad beyond fair use.
Here's the link - http://www.dailypilot.com/articles/2008 ... 041208.txt
With track and field needing some peeeeeeeeeeeezazzzzzzzzzzzz There is no fair use It's time to get the "brash" back in track
Fair use is not in the eye of the beholder, it is in the eye of the mods who have the legal responsibility for board and who take a dim view of cavalierly violating the board guidelines. I strongly recommend that you greatly trim your post or the mods will remove all of it and possibly restrict your ability to post for a while. See that little edit button by your posts (and you will not see it for anyone else's post); you asked about it on a previous post, so ignorance is no longer an excuse.
This is not about politics. If I am not wanted here then have a mod write me a message and tell me not to post about track. Just let me know. And, frankly, I do not care what you think. If you don't like the thread don't read it. I was wrong on the politics and it got deleted. This is about track. Don't like my posts - stay off the thread and go read about Dolphin shorts and color coding them for each of your morning runs. -bye johnny ringo
Dear Mr. Ringo, I greatly appreciate your enthusiasm and desire to be a positive force for T&F in you area, but . . . if you don't care what other people think, why should they care what you think? Your gratuitous shot at other runners disserves your stated purpose. There's several other sites that may be more appreciative of your perspective - letsrun.com and dyestat.com have forums that may be more to your taste. The moderators here have made it abundantly clear that this forum is for a civil discourse on Track & Field. Thanks for your consideration, A fellow T&F fan

Re: humble thoughts
I'd imagine in a half century or so I'll be pretty good material for the glue factory. Roses are red Violets are blue Brian The(riot) Is halfway to crazy glue.
Actually, there is Brian, and that little bit of legality (to say nothing of common courtesy) is honored on this Board. Please don't do it again. And allow me also to suggest you lose your contentious tone and don't get into name-calling. Thanks. gh
hey, if I have violated any rule on the board. Lay it out. My tone is not subject to your review. Actually, as I am typing I am on a slip n slide, 95 degrees, and getting ready for arcadia. Second, if you dont like the thread. Pretty simple. Don't read it. That's pretty fair. Just ignore my posts. Pretty simple rule. Anyways, I am gone from the board Sunday at midnight. So just ignore my posts til then and my posts will remain within the rules. Tone this. "the only pain you feel is the pain you inflict" -Bud Kilmer Varsity Blues (coulda been an 800 meterrs man)
Now here is a man that appreciates Tombstone - maybe you can help me here with "the poster" that is so very offended of my opinions. You seem to get it, so pass this around and let's see what lands in the town of Bodie. What other runners did I take a shot? Name the runner. First name, last name, events. Times, etc. The simple fact is that I don't hide behind board names. Fair for those that do. Fair for me that I do not. Makes a poster an easier target, but who cares. Just tell it like it is. Name the runner, name, lasrt name, events, times, etc. Here are your rules cowboy and not one of my posts violate these rules. Even my posts on politics did not violate the rules. -Randall Patrick MacMurphy and PS: You don't need to care what I think. That is the truth. There are millions out here online, and if I lose one of you that don't care there will be one that will. You don't speak for the world of track and either do I. Do, cool the ego, and don't read my posts. You will be more relaxed. If you continue to read Theriot posts, you will get frustrated, unnerved, edgy, you will write the mods, etc. But at the end of the day - believe me - I do not violate forum rules. I can be like a bad date though. So, instead of taking the date - move to another thread and be happy with your life.
