I hear that there will be an all-comers track meet at Hayward Field during the Olympic Trials--one of the down days. How cool would that be! Is this true? Also, any word on the South Eugene HS track being open to the public during the trials--to watch the athletes practice?? Thanks.

P.S.: TJ for many years was executive vice president of World Masters Athletics. Hayward Field hosted the 1989 world masters championships and the 2000 and 2003 USATF masters nationals.

Ken--At the IAAF World Championships, they have a media 800m, which might be a little more realistic than a 100m, although it might be fun to see John Crumpacker or Jim Dunaway run the 100!

Or, there's the Hootie 5k!

I doubt that there are many men within 10 years of Jim Dunaway's 80 who could dust him in a foot race...especially if a fine dinner with a beautiful and intelligent woman were the winner's reward.
