nice shirt, GH :) highlight of the meet

sadly, your wonderful Hawaiian shirt was just about the highlight of the Oracle meet (or US Oracle Open as Dwight insisted on calling it)

don't know how it looked to those in attendance, but the telecast certainly didn't excite even this rabid T&F fan (even with the mute button on)

could be the impending US nationals kept the competition a bit subdued, but this one was kinda like watching grass grow

thoughts from you guys who were there?

this is how i expected it, typical tune up prior to a big meet. i am sure the big names did not want to risk injury with the usatf meet 12 days away

I just wish they would have shown at least part of the 3000...where Adam Goucher on his comback was at least semi competitive. I like to see ALL the events but it gets a bit annoying when sprints and sprint hurdle races are shown over and over (often including time for false starts) while some distance races get shown not at all.

Thanks gm. Now I just need to scour the closet for comparable ones for each of the four days of Nationals! (and buy 20 gallons of sunscreen)

Yes, meet seemed a little flat, although when you're working the infield you don't get to pay much attention to the meet itself.

The small attendance (probably less than last week's Regionals in the same site?) was certainly a bit troublesome, although from trackside the roar they set up was kind of impressive.

Random thoughts:
Inger Miller looked as sharp as I've seen her in years... Breaux Greer cut his throwing short because his back was hurting.... discus had a terrible tailwind.... have to check, but I'd be really surprised if four American women have ever jumped 6-4 3/4 in the same meet before (has never happened in an OT, alhtough there were three over 6-5 in '88)...Mo Greene has developed HUGE traps.

Even worse is the 2 minutes of recap of last weeks meet. Goucher could easily have fit in there. Also, the meet was NOT live. As results were online 10+ minutes before they showed the race(s).

Delay was only 30 minutes, so for all practical intents and purposes it was live.

Probably a very dumb question but what does that mean?

trapezius muscles - top of the shoulder up to neck, usually flat on shoulders, on Mo they are big humps.

Did Mo get the hump after the race?

I see what you mean. Go to the scrapbook section of www.hsi.net They actually remind me of the traps of that person whose name can't be mentioned.

Sorry, forgot that as I'm a limey we speak a different language...hump in English slang = getting annoyed/attitude.

Yikes! I'm just one of several (many?) fans in Sacto who had to go shopping for a sweatshirt today, in anticpation of night 2 at Arctic Stadium.

But hey, GM! While I was there I was able to score a new Kahala I'll be able to break out for the Nationals next week. I'll be sure to save it for the TV window on Saturday or Sunday.
