Hmm-m-m-m. If I post on this thread, will I lose my sense of humor too?
I can't prove this, but I'd be willing to bet that whoever is in charge of putting links on the home page here saw this as an Onion-type spoof, and thought it would be a good idea to inject some levity into an otherwise depressing list of links to somber articles about a miserable subject.
if it were the governor of a large state that was used as the target it would be marginal, though you could argue that a particular governor of a particular large state would be fair game, but the target chosen is downright weird and shameful.. T&FN gains nothing by following them in this disgrace.
It would seem more appropriate as a post in a thread than a link on the main board. There it is just distastefully weird. (And it wasn’t really funny either.)
Did Rice have a Stanford connection? Remember someone else with some resemblance to Rice (if the Stanford link is there) having a link to the underlying Balco/steroid issue?

She was the Provost (Dean of Deans) there. I know of no Stanford link to BALCO except they were in the same part of California.
Stanford hasn’t. RJ’s name is still on the honor roll plaques that they have in a little shrine at one end of their track honoring Stanford NCAA champs, WR holders and Olympians . . .

Apparently they subscribe to that same code the Coe supporters do, what she did later in life has no bearing on what she acccomplished there.

RJ is Regina Jacobs who took THG. This bugs some folks. Coe had consensual relations with an adult woman not his wife. This apparently equally bugs some folks.

I rather doubt that Coe's wife consented. And I would be one of those people who does have a problem with that. Want to fool around? Sure, go ahead. But please don't take any vows about 'honoring' your spouse. Do the 'right' thing and divorce your wife first. You obviously don't respect her anywhere, so why live the lie?
