Will the CAS ruling in the Jerome Young case that allowed Michael Johnson et al to keep their Sydney 4x4 Golds also allow Marion's Sydney teammates to keep their medals??
The court said IAAF rules in force at the time of the Sydney Games did not allow for a whole team to be disqualified because of the actions of one of its members.

While that is true, I did not see where CAS addressed that.
Probably because, at that point, they didn't have to. I suspect if Young had been on the final lineup it would have been a MUCH closer call. However, I don't discount the Michael Johnson factor playing a role in tipping the scales.
The point being that the CAS ruling set a precedent, discussing the lack of enforceable IAAF rules for the very Oly Games at play in Jones' case.
The significant legal difference that I see is not that the athlete in question did or did not run in the finals. Rather it is that in Young’s case the issue was that he was not eligible to be on the team in the first place, whereas in Jones’ case her eligibility was not a question at the time of the meet.
Inger Miller was one of the alleged positives the US had just before Sydney - thus her 'will she won't she' cat and mouse game during those Olympics. Jacobs was definitely one of the positives (also withdrew).
Miller only managed 22.7 in Edmonton (returning as defending champ)....funny, that - a whole second slower than in Sevilla!

I will, yes. She failed a test in 1999. Nuff said.
it's not 'Nuff said' at all
inger failed for caffeine !!! whatever your suspicions about her it is hardly fair to lump her in with the PED addled likes of Ms Gaines, White and Jones

Come on mump, her 1999 season was hardly the result of improved training! She was 22'4, 22'5 then 21'7 and then back to 22'7.....?

She never looked anything like a 10.79/21.77 athlete - and never did since. See my post above re. pre-Sydney.
If you read between the lines of what I've said, you'll see I probably agree with you
However, you can't just use your speculation to say what you like, and lumping a caffeine positive (which can be found in cold remedies, whole manner of things other than coffee or cola) with the systematic doping employed and proved by the likes of Gaines, Jones et al is unfair. There is no evidence to suggest Inger Miller was on harder drugs other than the fact she had one "amazing" season, a few good ones before and sod all since. I can name you a fair few athletes who fall into that category, some of whom have other circumstantial evidence surrounding them, yes, but a heck of a lot of others who don't...
incidentally, in the national news they had a brief 2-second snippet from miller saying 'i'm just glad all of this is coming out' (i guess referring to jones_).
miller could become a world champion if they take away jones' medal.
