There was a story in Sports Illustrated a couple of years back (given how rarely SI covers our sport anymore, maybe it was in 2000, as part of their "Olympic coverage"?) in which he was potrayed as a rather bitter old man, sitting on his farm in Texas ruminating over why he didn't get more glory/recognition for the feats of his youth.
Hmmm... in my memory it seems as if Bobby Morrow got a lot of press back in '56. I was just a kid but I recall he was a big deal. In retrospect it always seemed like Dave Sime was the one who got short-changed by fate. There was another great match up that should have happened more often, Morrow and Sime, healthy and in their prime.
