i think coke has more carbonation and is less sweet. plus when i was growing up we never had pepsi in the house. occasionally we might enjoy 7-up, dad's rootbeer, mug rootbeer, fanta orange soda, sprite, dr. pepper, royal crown cola, grape soda, and even my mom's diet soda but NEVER pepsi
i know this question is a lighting rod for a very heated debate

and I get into it ALL the time. COKE TASTES BAD! There, I've said it. Pepsi tastes good and Coke tastes bad - it really is that simple. When you get a chance, do a taste test. You'll get an 'odd' aftertaste with Coke, but not Pepsi. [truth-in-advertising disclaimer: I am seriously addicted to the stuff - I can't even remember a day that I haven't had one - I think Hugh Hefner is too - so we have ONE thing in common, at least!)
Coca Cola is first with me, but Pepsi is fine too. Not sure I could tell the difference in a blindfolded test. I'm addicted; at least 3-4 of one or the other every day. Like the new little coke cans, they minimize my overindulgence.

Trivia question: who was the Caribbean gent who used to do the "uncola" commercials for 7-Up?
was he in a james bond movie?
yeah, wasn't he the voodoo shaman (had a skull painted onto his face) with Roger Moore? - set in Nawlins - the title escapes me. I can clearly see his face and hear his basso profundo - name escapes me too.

I've been a big Coke guy my whole life, even though I will enjoy an occasional Pepsi. I've paid the price for my Coke addiction(lol) since I usually drink 4-6 cans a day, and sometimes more in the summer. I saw my weight at the end of this spring(track season, when I do precious little working out of my own) balloon to 189 lbs. from my "normal" 175-180. Then Coke Zero came out in June, and with not a whole lot more lifestyle changes than that over normal Coke, I dropped down to 172 in 1 1/2 months. Taste is very similar to regular Coke, and MUCH better than Diet Coke.
Can my competitive weight of 160-163 lbs be far away? That's my goal by the end of the year, without having to resort to interval training lol.
I was a Cokeaholic for many years, until my doctor diagnosed my " bladder infection" which was causing frequent urination as diabetes.. made me switch to diet sodas.. hate Diet Coke... Diet Pepsi and Diet Root Beer not so bad but actually have developed a taste for Diet Dr. Pepper.. still no substitute for real Dr. Pepper... Now on the rare occasion when I drink a "real" Coke, it is too carbonated, or something...
Have always preferred Coke to Pepsi, but I have stopped drinking Coke in the last year in my effort to loose weight, and I do not expect to start drinking it again unless its my only only option. Unfortunately, I had to stop drinking beer to reach my weight goal (BMI of 168 pounds), which I accomplished this week.

Name is Geoffrey Holder. I first remember him from an episode of "It Takes A Thief" (Robert Wagner). Can proudly say I've never seen a Bond movie that didn't have Sean Connery in it. Roger Moore? Phaw! (Moore will always be the quintessential "Saint" to me)
speaking of 007, the scoop on the new Bond flick, Casino Royale, is that it's going old skool, all the way back to From Russia With Love, where Bond is a spy, more than a sci-fi super-hero. I hope so.

colombo
patton
mr. lector
raging bull

larry of arabia
and none of these examples may rival how great sean connery was as 007
To play devil's advocate, we know how truly great Connery was because we've seen the competition. In your other examples, nobody has taken on the exact same role, so it's possible they don't represent the apex.
Off the top of my head, not sure I can think of any examples where the second guy in the queue is every viewed as an improvement, but there must be some.
I suppose we could spend countless hours debating the merits of Dick York vs. Dick Sargent as the best Darrin Stephens

Dirk Benedict as Lt "Faceman" Peck in the A-Team. The original Faceman for the pilot was Tim Dunigan.
