Oh brother...
From the Apple website: Witness the evolution of the revolution. First it played songs. Then photos. Then podcasts. Now iPod plays video, changing the way you experience your music and more. Podcasts didn't change anything about the iPod, it was just another sound file. Not really an "evolution" the way photos and video are. And really... I might enoy putting some little pole vaulting video clips on my iPod or something... but who really wants to watch a TV show or movie on their iPod? Yeah you can hook it up to the TV... you might as well hook your computer up to the TV. Or I don't know... buy a DVD Now if they make it where you can use the iSight video camera and record to the iPod... that would be pretty handy for practice.
OK, so no new iPod yet, but was able to go onto Apple site and download "Desparate Housewives" episde, which took 40 minutes on good DSL line. It'll play on iTunes on your regular computer, but.... the screen is the 2x1 of an iPod! Still, for $1.99 better than missing the epe altogether.
I'll still take the PSP over the iPod. Sure, the capacity isn't as great (yet. I think the largest memory stick is 1 gig), but given that It can be used to get online, view pics, watch movies, AND play video games makes it a better all around gadget in my opinion. Not to mention it can be cracked. Iv'e seen people put entires movie's, or multiple games on one memory stick, and play it without using the disk. pretty amazing stuff. I watched T2 while coming back to Cali from the East Coast on mine. Sure beats watching those g-rated flicks they show on the flight. I'll take the ability to watch movies over 5,000 songs any day. I don't even think i could come up with 5,000 songs I'd be willing to listen too.
Not fer me, thanksFirst make-up mirrors 'n dash-mounted razors then cell phones in cars. Now drivers'll be distracted by video iPods to boot? I don't think I'll ever take to the road on my bike again with any confidence in my safety. This could get ugly!
Below is a good first look and reaction so far:
http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articl ... ith-video/ I have a 4th generation iPod and it's great. I just don't see the need to watch video on it. Right on with the "Podcasting" term. It's just an audio clip hosted on a server, just like any music file that you play (mp3, mpg, etc). Clever marketing, however.
