excerpt:

"The sides met for 24 hours starting Tuesday afternoon to hammer out the collective bargaining agreement."

I assume this means they literally hammered each other, gloves on the ice and all.

There was hockey on the tube last night. Bill Guerin of the Dallas Stars was on Texas Hardtails. It was Episode 3: The Lingerie Show . "Two out of work hockey players ask Rick for a job and Mom and Debbie can't find girls for the lingerie contest!"...honest.

Probably a majority of teams in the league have along the lines of five or six players under contract. It's going to be an offseason unprecedented in madness.

Now all they have to do is rig the draft lottery next week so that the NY Rag$(3 ping pong balls) can get Sidney Crosby and they will be all set.

Looking at the coverage in the local papers up here, you would think WWII just ended. A bit much.

You're a number$ guy, how much revenue have they already lost and stand to lose in decreased attendence/merchandising? tens of millions?

Here is what The Great One said on that:

""At the end of the day, everybody lost," said the Great One. "We almost crippled our industry. It was very disappointing what happened.

"For everyone to say 'all right, let's forgive and forget, let's move forward,' that's all fine and good but it's a lot easier said than done. It's going to take a long time.""

Give me Barret Jackman or give me death!

And it looks like the first option is coming soon to an arena near you, if you live in a northern/Canadian/midwestern/Californian city (hopefully they can contract some teams, or at least merge Anaheim into the LA Kings).

"HNIC is back"

...and they are actually playing hockey for the first time since 1972 when the refs really started turning a blind eye to obstruction and slashing/spearing/hooking etc.

I have zero interest in hockey. However, I had to laugh when I heard they have a new rule this year - ties are getting broken by shoot-outs. All you soccer abusers - care to comment? :)

I wonder if Crosby will be good enough to get the first name moniker. Sid-that's the ticket.
