Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?best runner was probably the wide-receiver that "spearchucker" was worried about in MASH in the crunch ball-game & asked alda & sutherland to do something about - they ganga-ed him
the opposing coach found that all his magnificent charge could utter was: "i'm ready for the 440 coach ?!" then the young buck charged off & fell over sideways after 10y, with the coach throwing his hat down on the ground in disgust !
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?Has Jim Brown been mentioned? He was in a number of movies, and he could certainly run...
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)? What about Michael Landon of Bonanza and Highway to Heaven Fame? Didn't he hold the national high school record in the javelin? He had to run-up before tossing the spear!
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?>Has Jim Brown been mentioned? He was in a number of movies, and he could
>certainly run... Look back about 5 or 6 memos, he has been mentioned.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?>What about Michael Landon of Bonanza and Highway to Heaven Fame? Didn't he
>hold the national high school record in the javelin? He had to run-up before >tossing the spear! Oh my how things get embellished. Landon was really Eugene Orowitz from New Jersey. He was a good HS JT'er but no national recordholder by a long shot. He went to USC ostensibly on a track scholarship but I believe left school and the rest is history.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed)
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?>>What about Michael Landon of Bonanza and Highway to Heaven Fame? Didn't
>he >hold the national high school record in the javelin? He had to run-up >before >tossing the spear! Jim Brown and Landon/Orowitz are both legitimate actors. Brown sprinted in "The Dirty Dozen." I recall that it was pretty effective. Let me add a couple of more. Both went to Pomona College. Richard Chamberlain was a 400 meter runner his freshman year and then concentrated on his acting and painting (his major). He had exceptional physical presence. In a costume drama, 4 courtiers in tights took off their flowery caps and made sweeping bows to the monarch. The unintentional result was laughter from the audience. Chamberlain's grace made the three others look as if they had stumbled. However, I never saw him run in any of his films. Kris Kristofferson ran in high school (probably distance) and played football and rugby at Pomona. To my knowledge, he never ran in any of his early films.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?Did anyone see the movie "Crazy Kung-fu"?
We can observe an incredible new Chinese-bike- racing style: according to my observations, the two actors set a crazy 1"005 new 100m World record!!!
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)? My nominee for Worst Runner in Every Film in which he has appeared: Steven Seagal. To say he runs "like a girl" would be a gross insult to everyone of the female persuasion.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?Franka Potente in no rational way resembles Milla Jovovich, unless two people being both slender is a resemblance.
Potente is also a considerably better actor.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?that is such a riot.... I remember watching a segal film and saying to myself that is the worst stride I have ever seen in my life.. They definitely need to find a sprint double for him!

Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?Cornell Wilde in The Naked Prey (1966)- he was both the lead actor and director.
He proved it was possible to outrun the Africans, even with their spears landing inches from your heels. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/63002 ... ZZZZZZ.jpg
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?I remember seeing a movie ages ago, which opens with a shot of Burt Reynolds - looking impressive - running along a road.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?I believe Luke Wilson was a 1:53-1:54 800 runner back in HS. I don't remember him running in any of his movies though, so I couldn't tell you about his stride.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?Paul Newmans stride in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof wasn't all that hot.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)? How about Robert Redford in " The Way We Were." Just remember him running on the track team but cannot recall his form.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?M.A.S.H. had a couple of good runners in the movie version. Dr. "Spearchucker" Jones was played by Kansas City Chiefs DB Fred "The Hammer" Williamson who appeared in Super Bowl I. Timothy Brown was a kick returner for the 1961 NFL Championship winning Philadelphia Eagles. Brown went on to play the Jones character on the TV show. The TV M.A.S.H. cast actors in the opening sequence for their running ability...I kid you not.
Steven Seagal may run like my mother but Hugh Grant has absolutely worst running form of any upright mammal in history. cman Last edited by cullman on Sun Jun 12, 2005 6:46 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?<<<Brad Pitt and Rick Schroeder in made for TV movie about two running
>brothers...name???>>> ---- I remember one quote from that movie ("Across the Tracks"; http://imdb.com/title/tt0101268/): (Talking about a fierce kick about to commence) "Here it comes Joey, here it commmmes!"
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?>My nominee for Worst Runner in Every Film in which he has appeared: Steven
>Seagal. To say he runs "like a girl" would be a gross insult to everyone of >the female persuasion. Agree with Kuha. I think Steven Seagal is the worst looking runner in the history of the human race.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?>How about Robert Redford in " The Way We Were." Just remember him running on
>the track team but cannot recall his form. I think he had one of those ridiculous sweaters wrapped around his neck during his running scenes.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?>Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed)
He looked good in those scenes running with Stallone on the beach. It's about all I remember about that Rocky though. Franchise went straight downhill after the first one. I asked somewhere else if he ever ran track.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?<My nominee for Worst Runner in Every Film in which he has appeared: Steven Seagal.>
Travolta in Grease would be highly competitive for the honor.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?><My nominee for Worst Runner in Every Film in which he has appeared: Steven
>Seagal.> Travolta in Grease would be highly competitive for the honor. But Danny got a letter ! ( Plus he got O N-J )
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)? What about Peter Strauss in "The Jericho Mile"? Did he look the part?
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?Robby Benson was surprisingly good as Billy Mills in "Running Brave". Both "Pre" actors (Billy Crudup and ?) weren't too bad.
The worst I've ever seen was Michael Douglas in some movie - help me with the title please - in which he was supposedly training to be an Olympic marathoner. I have this mental image of a beefy guy running over a bridge (Queensboro?) into NYC - the complete antithesis of an elite marathoner's body type.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)? The Michael Douglas movie you refer to is, I think, "Running." DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT rent this film under ANY circumstances. It is a turkey's turkey, an embarrassment to everything connected with either movie-making or running.
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?i walked out of the theater in disgust after 40 mins. of hell!!!!
Re: Who are the best movie-star runners (or their doubles)?the dude that played Prefontaine, Leto
