Re: PREFONTAINE CLASSIC BOWERMAN MILEDo you guys invite these fellows into the meet, or do they knock on the door and want in? This has to be the best-ever complete-package meet, or?

Re: PREFONTAINE CLASSIC BOWERMAN MILEDare we hope for.... gasp!.... an American Record?
Re: PREFONTAINE CLASSIC BOWERMAN MILEWhen was the last one-day meet in the US that had a better lineup? How many of the European meets have a better one-day lineup?
Re: PREFONTAINE CLASSIC BOWERMAN MILEmaybe not the best question
a better one maybe is: if the meet was held 1 month later & had the tv budget available that would buy 1 game of a regional nba playoff game, then what kind of meet could there be every year ?
Re: PREFONTAINE CLASSIC BOWERMAN MILE>How many of the European meets have a better one-day lineup?
Most of the Golden League meets can match the quality of the 2005 Pre Classic, but the difference is that Tom Jordan really knows how to promote a meet. Most GLs issue ALL the startlists on the same day in one press release or article. People will remember the main attraction, but will forget everything else mentioned in the article. Issuing a press release per event, leaving a gap of a few days between each one, is a brilliant way to keep fans and potential spectators interested in the meet. They (we) are being fed reason after reason why we should travel to watch this meet - top class line-ups a-plenty. When I went to the Rome GL last year, I picked up the program to see who was competing and with each page I was left breathless, astounded at the quality of the meet. If the meet organisers of the Rome Golden Gala promoted it in the same way that TJ has with the Pre Classic, then the stadium would (should) have been jam-packed and full to the brim with eager European fans instead of attracting just a few thousand people, congregated in the stand above the finish line. Hats off to you, TJ. You're doing a great job!

Ah, thanks for the reminder. Indeed I had pretty much forgotten about that. I'll dig it out of my inbox and upload it to some space.
