June 3,2005 5P.M. is when the music died in New York City.Joel Hollander moved WCBS-FM Off of its foundation and went "JACK". Jack is a format that plays an eclectic mix with computers randomly picking toons from all gendres. The WCBS oldies format that dropped pre Beatles Era songs and Don K Reeds Doo-Woop shop last year took this blow from the blind side with the DJS not even given a chance to sign off.
Last September at a panel held at the TV& Radio Museum that included Joe McCoy,Bill Brown,Bruce Morrow,Bob Shannon,Don Reed and Norm Nite this issue was the most eagerly awaited topic. Sooner than later was the answer to" When will on air DJs' be history".To-day was sooner. My transister radio ran out of music and died yesterday at 5 pm EST.
Edit to brush away the tears.
