"World record holder Tim Montgomery finished a miserable sixth in the 100 metres at an IAAF Super Grand Prix meeting on Tuesday before saying he is likely to return to the U.S. rather than compete again in Europe before the world championships in Paris later this month."

He is going in reverse now, and there are certainly many factors in his slump, but chief among them must be leaving the coach that got him to the top. Trevor had his detractors, but he's looking pretty good now. If the rumors about $$$ differences fueling the split are even remotely true, then that was a poor long-term decision. I think it would be very difficult for Pfaff to 'fix' him for Paris. On the other hand, by next year, he may be on top with a training season with Pfaff behind him.

with less than 3 weeks to go i doubt he can get into winning shape.

Looks like Montgonery has a long way to go. He ran 10.13 for 6th place in his heat in London, and with a 2.5 wind at his back. But look at his reaction time (0.258). He was left in the blocks.
