Incredible. I loved the old description of Toronto as "New York, as run by the Swiss." Now, perhaps, it's more like "New York, as run by your white trash second cousins from the backwoods of Tennessee."

I don't know if Canadians are eligible for the Golden Duke Awards
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/nomin ... uke-awards
but he's putting together an impressive portfolio of bad behavior.

Perusing Wikipedia's list of Canadian political scandals is pretty boring stuff and I can't find much that compares. Maybe the Munsinger Affair--no drugs but a lot of sex plus a Communist spy.

In the "bad judgment" category, this certainly tops Mayor Mel Lastman's calling in the Army to plow the streets after the big blizzard of 1999...

Ain't that the truth!

Ok, here's my theory. It all began when someone slipped crack powder into his toothpaste container. Then it was mixed into the lotion he uses for dry skin. Then . . .

This guy is a human SNL skit. Their writers can't top the stuff that comes out of his mouth. You just can't make this shit up.

I think " I did_________(insert appropriate sin), because I was in a drunken stupor" is the new go to excuse for all politicians. I'm really ashamed that a Canadian had to come up with this one before an American Politician did. Maybe voters could use it too. " Yes I did vote for _______, but I was in a drunken stupor."
Hey Marlow, remember that time I really pissed you off? Yup, soused on my ass.

Given how many SNL cast members come straight from Second City Toronto, maybe it's all an elaborate audition.

Jack Black, but he'd have to bulk up for the role.

A colleague at work said to me: "Hey, your mayor looks kinda like Chris Farley!" I responded with "At this rate, he's going to end up like Chris Farley."

Better to end up like Farley (alive) than Candy (dead)!

Candy does have the advantage of being Canuckian though.

Uhh...Farley passed away sixteen years ago.

Besides, another thing I've heard requires deadpan humor. I've been told Ford says he is suing the people who were interviewed by the police for what they disclosed to the police. For...

wait for it...

Defaming his reputation.

Rob Ford has put Canada on the map.....the CNN, BBC, Australia, every crack of Europe and every other media map you can name. That's it folks, come to Canada and smoke some crack, or, if you prefer, do something else with crack, given Ford's comments on dining at home. Ugghh.

Toronto is now laying claim to being the fourth largest city in North America (excluding Mexico). That much is true if you ignore the fact that Chicago's metropolitan area exceeds that of Toronto, 9.5 million to 6 million. But I do digress. Americans likely now are more aware of the existence of Canada than at any time in the previous 3 decades. That's right folks, we're here, and we have a big city!! Good grief. Just how large would Toronto's mayor be in the absence of calorie burning stimulants? ...sorry

Rock on, if you can afFord it.

The 'closer' was indeed the funniest/saddest remark I've EVER heard a politician utter out loud. I can only imagine that his wife has now crawled under a rock for the remainder of his term.

This is almost too well done. "Rob Ford: The Movie", starring Chris Farley:
