As the lyric of the Jimmie Vaughan song goes, "Heaven done called another blues stringer back home".....
One of my favorite remaining authentic Chicago bluesmen, Magic Slim, died last week. As a wannabe blues guitar player myself, I felt lucky to have been able to see him perform on several occasions with his band the Teardrops, and each time the show was definitely one of the most memorable of all those at the particular Blues Festival... I doubt that anyone else here has ever heard of him, but those of us who appreciate blues music will definitely miss him, and he was a good guy who also did me an unnecessary favor once, so I appreciated him even more for that. The video below provides a great example of Magic Slim, so if anybody wants, check it out with headphones so you can hear the bass too rather than just the treble from those typical tiny built-in laptop speakers.
