The NCAA is one tough mutha

A place for the discussion of all things not closely related to the sport and its competitive side. (Locked down several times a year during the major championships)

The NCAA is one tough mutha

Nothing gets past this august body for rules infractions. OK Cal Tech, no post season bowl games, hahahahahaha, no on campus recruiting, hahahahahaha, no athletic scholarships, hahahahaha.

Those smug NCAA enforcers can revel in their achievements, hahahahahaha.

Haha I was just about to post about this.

The postseason ban is obviously the toughest penalty here, but then again we're talking about a men's basketball team that once lost 310 consecutive conference games, so maybe we're not really going to miss a whole lot there.

Really NCAA? Way to flex your guns

Caltech over four years had allowed 30 student athletes who were academically ineligible to play in practice or games in 12 sports, including baseball, basketball, tennis and swimming, the NCAA said.

At CalTech the term 'academically ineligible' means "does not have a 4.0 and hasn't yet won a Nobel Prize".

My husband's comment on this:
In a Venn diagram of "Nobel laureates" and "People who played on a winning college basketball team", I'll bet the overlap is exceedingly small.

Let A be the set of Nobelists and B the set of basketball players on a winning team. Then if the set A ∩ B ≠ ∅, and p ∈ A ∩ B ⇒ p probably went to Princeton.

Of course, this is just a theory.
