A place for the discussion of all things not closely related to the sport and its competitive side. (Locked down several times a year during the major championships)
If I read the new Chicago ordinance correctly, you will have to keep your most sensible weapon for your personal protection locked inside the house. No proud display on your porch aiming at that slime neighbor across the street. Wait, you live in the suburbs, don't you? You should be OK, then.

Can you get one of those at Costco?
They had them in stock a month ago, but it looks like now they have a big shipment of Vladimirov KPV-14.5 heavy machine guns from a Russian supplier. Get 'em while you can! Of course, you have to have a Costco membership and can only pay by check or AMEX.
That is good to know. I do have AMEX, and a costco membership, and I get triple award points for heavy assault weapons.

Yes, I live in Du Page County, Land of the FREE, and a mile from the tyranny of Daley's Cook County. For example, here is a scene from Col. McCormick's house near Wheaton, the county seat of Du Page.

My 8-year old grandson asked for something like this for Christmas or his birthday together with a tank or an armored vehicle. A truly deprived child, he wants only one airplane carrier with a couple of bombers and only one nuclear bomb. Only one, I emphasize.
Ghana lose, all because Uraguay prevented a goal with a blatant handball. Despite the red card and penalty it does not seem enough. Ghana really blew this by not finishing it off with that penalty. Now Africa will set up a posse for Suarez

A blatant handball and yet Ghana lose. Another thing that FIFA has to look at. How about the goal counts and a Penalty? The Ghanaians will be sorrowing in their palm wine.
Why couldn't I have professors like this when I was in college?
A Northwestern University professor apologized Saturday for letting a couple demonstrate the use of a sex toy after one of his classes, but he said he still sees "absolutely no harm" in what happened.
Psychology professor J. Michael Bailey said he regrets hurting Northwestern's reputation and "upsetting so many people in this particular manner. I apologize."
The incident took place Feb. 21. After a class on human sexuality, Bailey invited students to stay for a discussion of sexual fetishes. He repeatedly warned that it would be graphic.
The discussion included a woman who stripped and allowed her partner to use a sex toy on her.

When John Cleese mounted his female partner in front of his young class, in Monty Python's "The meaning of Life", it was quite amusing because of course, it could never actually happen....................NOT!

I'm trying to come up with a worst case scenario. He did it to me; he did it to my wife; he did it my daughter; he did it to my 2-year-old GRANDDAUGHTER, and I still can't see myself injecting acid into another person's eyes as 'justice'. Doesn't this just make me as bad as the bad guy?

It's better than killing the bastard, which is what a lot of people would want to do.

Come one man. Obviously, I can't read your mind and neither you or I can ever truly know what we would do in a situation like that, but I'll bet you'd be willing to do a lot worse things than that to him if he had done this to your wife, daughter or grand-daughter. When you went to the hospital and your saw your female relative fighting for her life with her face covered in bandages, don't you think your inner-barbarian would surface in its fury?
Gay Softball League Rocked By Heterosexual Cheating Scandal
The five ballplayers summoned before a protest committee at the Gay Softball World Series stood accused of cheating. Their alleged offense: heterosexuality.
Inside a small room, surrounded by committee members and other softball officials, the players said they were interrogated about their sexual orientation. Confusion reigned. According to court records, one player declined to say whether he was gay or straight but acknowledged being married to a woman. Another answered yes to both gay and heterosexual definitions. A third asked if bisexual was acceptable and was told, “This is the Gay World Series, not the Bisexual World Series.”
Ultimately, the committee ruled that three of the five were “nongay” and stripped the team of its second-place finish.
British soldier in Afghanistan gives birth at base attacked by Taliban, despite allegedly being unaware she was even pregnant.
The woman, a gunner in the Royal Artillery, had complained of stomach pains before medics informed her she was in labour.
She gave birth to a son five weeks premature in Camp Bastion on Tuesday.
Mother and baby are both said to be in a stable condition, with a specialist paediatric team from the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, preparing to travel to Afghanistan to assist them on the flight home.
The Ministry of Defence last night confirmed it was against military policy for servicewomen to be deployed on operations while pregnant and said they had been unaware the servicewoman was expecting.
It is the first time a soldier from the UK has given birth while in Afghanistan.

For anyone who has lived with a women who has gone through pregnancy, I would think it is hard to believe. Of course, like others we have heard of it before. How can the physical changes NOT tell a woman (and those around) that something is different? I am not just talking about a bulging belly and weight gain.
This happened to a friend of a friend of mine in the 1980's in Santa Monica. The mother was an anorexic-looking cocaine addict who did not know she was pregnant until she went into labor. Nobody around her, including her husband, knew or even guessed she was pregnant. The baby was born addicted to coke and taken away from the mother who was promptly deported. A couple of years ago I heard that the child had just graduated from Oxford.
