tick-tick-tick-tick-tick... got those DVRs ready?

The actress who plays Renee said in an interview that one of the problems with shooting 24 was that it took 9 months to shoot a season, not always in sequence, and it was difficult to look the same for 9 months.
Which may explain why Jack can be gut stabbed and beaten to a blood pulp and be up and running in five minutes with no visible evidence of the beating.

All things are possible with Jack Bauer... after all, he's already been dead once several seasons ago.

So, at 120 minutes each, there will be 12 of them?

A duodecad-ology...?

Actually they plan to have it 24 hours long, with commercial breaks to pee in, and free popcorn refills.

Ah, sort of like when I rent a previous season of 24 from my local library and it's due back the next day.

Only with the free popcorn. And--I assume--minus my catheter.

Glad to see they are bringing back the slimy ex-President next week.

Are they going to kill off Freckles? Surely Jack and Freckles cannot be allowed to live happily ever after...

And isn't Starbuck's transformation the most illogical twist in 24 history? If she is a ruthless socio-path killer then WHY did she act so helpless when her old boyfriend was blackmailing her and the parole officer was stalking her? Why didn't she liquidate those losers immediately?

I sort of covered my idea on that in an above post.

I can see it being the way it was so as to keep her cover in place. Anything about her being mentally/emotionally upset could have been seen as concern over her cover being blown.

Our first glimpse of the "real" her came when she was finally able to get the losers alone (van by the river) and the killer was emerging. Then, of course, Cole intervened.

That Dana is a thoroughty despicable person..at least she won't get her immunity now.
I was confident they would stop the bomb at the last second but was a little surprised they did not rescue President Hassan.
No cliffhanger ending. Now what?

With all the psych damage those two have been through could not imagine any normal kids there. Would make for some interesting marital spats though . . .

Season has been getting very entertaining of late. Glad I stuck it out this year.

I could see them using a white picket fence for cover...

Actually, the big plot twist is going to be that Jack's granddaughter is really "Dana's" boss and the true brain behind everything this season.

Precocious little thing that she is...

Of course, that then requires--get ready, gh--**THE RETURN OF KIMMIE!!**

We're being led to believe she and Jack will live happily ever after someday. Which means, of course, she has about three more episodes to be alive.

And for those who are already going into withdrawal just from the knowledge 24 is over after this season, the DVD collection of La Femme Nikita was on sale at Best Buy last week ($19.95; sometimes upwards of $50), and may still be.

As gh mentioned on another thread, lots of the same 24 series background people, only pre-dating 24.

Dang! I know it is just a TV show but they could have written a hundred endings without killing off Renee... :(
I guess we still have a few episodes for Jack to return to CTU and ferret out the Ruskie baddies with a vengeance :x .

so I'm thinking that along with the new set of bad guys for the final 8 (?) episodes they'll need new blood in CTU to replace Dana Walsh. Kimmie, of course, would turn my stomach, but there's the logic of Chloe bringing in goldie oldies like her husband, or Milo (or did he die?) or Janice!

Eureka moment! Why would they off Renee with 8 episodes to go? :?
Maybe they faked her death to get the bad guys off her case and she will continue, under the radar, to assist in identifying the Russian baddies.
Or, in the grand finale, she and Jack will fade into the witness protection program. :)
On the other hand, Jack looked pretty broken up. Surely, they would let him in on it. :?
Or, maybe they wanted him really inspired to find and punish the bad guys.
The sniper and his handler must be terminated with extreme predjudice.

Putting Chloe in charge of CTU was inspired. Brilliant quirky rises to the top, and I can't wait for her to hang up on the Prez. A political animal she is not!

O.K. Here's my guesses for tonight. 1. The new Woman President of Kamistan will be tougher than the old one. 2. Chloe will make a decision that everybody will think is wrong, but don't bet against Chloe. 3. Jack will grieve for 3 minutes then rage for 57. 4. The Russian guy who is calling the shots will turn out to be a rogue working for an opposition group. A new threat will emerge to the Prez.

I dunno..Jack may have cracked.. stealing helicopters at gunpoint from CTU is probably against company guidelines... and where does one go in broad daylight in NYC/DC (I get confused with where this is happening) with a hot copter?
I am confident Jack will find and punish the sniper, Dana and the Russian dude but am hard pressed to write the script... :?

Once you catch up on the old seasons, you'll see that "going rogue" is one of the 24 cliches that occurs every season...just like a mole in CTU, Chloe being proven right, an asshole in the president's cabinet, etc.

I like the fact that Jack's flying across the river, which will take him about two minutes flat, and they're scrambling fighters from some remote location to force him down; nothing like an F18 at ground level in the canyons of New York City!

Meanwhile, Cole obviously needs to make up for being taken in by a honey trap, so he'll gladly go to work on Starbuck.

Why would the next door neighbor from King Of The Hill turn into an enemy agent?

:]

As for Jack mourning for 3 minutes and raging for 57 minutes, why should these episodes be any different from the last 186?

If every episode was as exciting and as much fun as last night's, the show would still be on after the end of May.

People tune in to see the loner against the system--which is, of course, the quintessential appeal of Jack. Not hours of bureaucracy.

The annoying president-woman climbs into bed with the evil president-man. Not surprising.

And Chloe crosses over the The Dark Side...

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but it never ceases to give me a chill at just how much Gregory Itzin ("who played Logan, the treacherous Nixonian president") physically resembles the late Richard Nixon...right down to the widow's peak.

Itzin also captures the subtle "you are your own worst enemy" concept of the Greek tragic figure that was both the fictional Logan and the actual Nixon.

No accident, of course; well-done casting.

But for someone who was just a few years on the safe side of the Viet Nam draft and in the thick of the Watergate times, it still sends a shiver whenever this excellent actor is on the screen.
