T&FN.com posters/readers challenge?

Postby BillVol » Mon Jan 02, 2006 8:33 am

Anybody up for a competition amongst the posters/readers of the board to see who can achieve whatever goal they have for themselves in the new year (ie losing weight, reaching a running goal, professional goald, etc)?

Mine would be to get down to 160 lbs, and run a sub 20 5K.

We could all post about our progress on here. Might be interesting to see how people are achieving their goals. Just an idea. Delete this if you want to, eds.

I'd be up to it, but the only problem is how do we verify results? At any rate, since I do not run anymore due to a plantar fascia injury that still bugs me, I swim and my goal is to break 30 minutes for 1 mile. My PB is 32:30. My other goal is to swim 5K without stopping, so far I'm up to 4K; I hope to achieve these goals in the next 3-6 months. As far as weight, I'd like get below 160 as well.

I'd like to start running again, because I would like to run Boston Marathon; when I was younger, I made the qualifying time, but never entered the race.

My only professional goal is not to work as hard as I have in the past because in the long run it just is not worth it!

Good luck!

It would be an honor thing. Why would anybody get on here and lie about anything?

When I say challenge, I mean challenge to one's self. Not with each other. It is not a competition in any way other than to try to improve one's self like the other posters are doing. There is no award or anything.

1. Be under 24 minutes in all road 5 K's

2. Win 60-64 division of DINO ( Do INdiana Off road) 5 K seasonal series, ( defending champ ! )plus win all 7 races of the series.

3. HAVE FUN with all of my running

There must be a TN connection to this one (I lived there for two years): see the underside of 160. Only 20 lbs (more or less) to go.

Me, get down to 175 lbs., but my current weight (177lbs.) is okay. A sub 18 minute 5K is fine also, but running 45-46 second 400's would be great.

It only took me 4 days (till yesterday) to blow my whole 'quality over quantity' posting resolution  The Rose Bowl and PV threads sucked me in, and that was that!

What, 2 lbs?? That's a goal??? Take a day off from eating and call it a year!! If this is going to be a competition the goals have to be a wee bit tougher!!!
