I think Spielberg's earlier films are his finest: Jaws, followed by Close Encounters, then E.T. Raiders is a great movie and a fun classic, but doesn't quite match up to the first two.
I noticed that 1941 and Amistad didn't make the list...
neither did "the duel", a great film and his first. spielberg is a true genius and because i love movies ( the greatest art form because it consist of music, art direction, acting, costumes, lighting, directing, special effects, editing and script writing to name a few) its hard to name a favorite. depends on the mood for me. think of the dynamics of a producer of this art form who could created a action blockbuster like raiders but also the quiet and tragic film, schinder's list.
but-gun at my head, which film changed my life the most- in order 1. jaws 2. close encounters 3. saving private ryan
Now we know Taf's a sensitive and vulnerable man! Thanks for sharing! I have seen all the Spielberg films except War of the Worlds, and I have enjoyed all of them, but if I have to select a favorite it would be Schindler's List. Before that it was ET, preceeded by Jaws.
