A place for the discussion of all things not closely related to the sport and its competitive side. (Locked down several times a year during the major championships)
i dont go very often because i love movies so much and people like to talk so i wait for the dvd.
anyway it seems there are snacks that people only have at the movies and no where else. when was the last time you enjoyed a bon bon after dinner?
me- medium pop corn, no butter. medium coke. now it gets tricky.
rasinnettes, chocolate almonds, jordan almonds, milk duds, bon bon's- one of these depending on mood.
The one thing I can't stand at the movies here is being surrounded by people scarfing popcorn. It stinks and the noise of hands scooping it up and the subsequent frantic mastication irritates me no end. Fortunately most of the movies I go to are of the more arty farty type, where the theater isn't packed. I apply the MJD thesis to most and wait for the dvd.
another reason i dont go! the snacks are much more than the movie but their such apart of the whole experience. me and da wife can rent a movie for 4 bucks and make some micro corn and some drinks for say $15. at the theatre total comes to $30 plus.
I sense a trend here. Let me guess - you're a Twix kinda guy?
bh
Yes! It is my favorite candy! I can get Twix almost everywhere, vending machines, stores, MOVIES, etc. I also sense a trend here (look at the word in CAPS).

(Putting on the old Jingoistic hat here . . .)
Along with jazz, movies are arguably the most important art form developed primarily in the US. And it is certainly more popular than jazz, as evidenced by the number of threads we have devoted to each around here.
Since I get the tix for free - I PIG OUT on the nastiest candy I can get my paws on. Mr. Goodbar, Milk Duds, Cherry Coke, popcorn caked in that oozy lard - mmmmmm - I need some right now!
Went to the theatre yesterday evening, watched Broken Flowers starring Bill Murray.
Some joker behind me thought he was cool by sneaking in a bottle of beer, a Carlsberg, to gulp down during the showing of the film. Knucklehead drops his bottle behind me, it rolls under my seat and continues down to one of the first few rows.
The movie itself has a lot of silent scenes, so the bottle rolling along the floor sounded very loud!
We get away with taking in goodies from outside - no checking of our bags.
