Reading an article in the Jazz Times mag, they show a handbill for a show the day after Thanksgiving, 1957. Two shows, 8:30 and midnight, Carnegie Hall. For as little as $2 ($3.95 for the best seats, all tax exempt - it was a benefit) you get the following:

Billie Holiday
Dizzy Gillespie
Ray Charles
Chet Baker with Zoot Sims
Thelonius Monk with John Coltrane
Sonny Rollins

They don’t make concerts like that anymore . . .
