For what it's worth, Ato himself has posted a related topic on his website as recently as today, and hasn't refuted the letter. You'd think he would be the first to cry foul if he didn't write it.

went to letsrun for the first time ever. wow that site's a trainwreck. anyway, that is the most incoherent letter I've ever read. I'm not sure what it said. I guess it's the email equivalent of drunk dialing an ex.

He didn't?
"If I wrote a letter to anyone it would not be seen online. I have been online since 1995, and you have never seen that anywhere from me. It's a good fabrication, but a fabrication nonetheless, bait for the internet boards and press I suppose to make the story bigger than it already is."

Can someone summarize what the allegations were in the supposed letter, which I have not seen appear in some places that I would expect to see it (which is an indication that it might well be false). [gh's comment below 'a plant' is what I meant in my (.)]

The author of the recent meltdown letter is being threatened with a lawsuit from someone hefty, so he has decided not to publicly own up to writing it. However, people in know have confirmed who wrote the letter.

Can you name or at least describe the person who you got the letter from?

I like how tfan used the phrase 'rectus humongus' in the post about 8 above the initial appearance of the alleged letter, which uses the same phrase repeatedly.

I'm sort of relieved that "big swinging..." was used, not "erectus humongus"

The sensor for swearing will overwrite any expletives used, and we end with stupid replacements like 'rectus humungous' for a** & king george bush for the f-word
censor was my original reaction, then I decided the site in question has a "sensor" which automatically swaps out nasty words for some pre-determined alternative.

This strikes me as one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read here. You could have written the letter as far as I know (although I don't believe you did). Furthermore, how do you know who is "in the know?" Next, how do you know that those "in the know" really know? Perhaps only the architect of the letter is aware of his identity. Without omniscience, which presumably you are bereft of, your assertions don't hold much weight with me.

Either way, those alternatives would not universally be considered inoffensive.

Yes, you thought this yesterday.....Now, with those "in the know" informing you about potential litigation, apparently you've changed your above prediction. I am not impressed.

Would you care to speculate who wrote the letter if it is not 9.86x4 and 19.77?
Oh, but I thought you and those "in the know" have confirmed the author's identity...

It sounds like you know who the author of the letter is as well. Is there really any doubt at this point? I'm sure that Smoke can tell you. Why don't you ask him for confirmation.
Start with a little chat with "Nawaf." I'll bet he tell you who wrote the letter. If he's not talking, then checkout "Onacrest Drive." You may want to visit "West Angeles Church," too. You could just visit ESPN's favorite track and field website instead.
One of the other star sprinters in Greene’s Los Angeles based group at the time was Trinidad’s Ato Boldon. Not only were the two athletes training partners but the media also portrayed them for years as close friends.
But that relationship appears to have ended, Hollywood style.
Reached this morning, I asked Boldon about the news reports and rampant speculation on the Internet, to which he replied that unfortunately track & field and gossip go hand in hand. But he did offer a statement, one that reveals the existence of a great schism between the former training partners.
“One thing is clear, that the evidence and the facts will show someone to be a fraud and someone will be vindicated. I will make no further comment regarding this case until such time,” said Boldon
Speedbuff, you must understand that jackals won't settle for plants once they're had a taste of meat. Last month Allen Johnson came on this board and fed us some raw meat. There's nothing tastier than a direct hit job from an Olympic and World Champion. Perhaps you're not in the position to feed us filet mignon, if you're not a first-hand witness, but can't you at least give us some ground beef. These soybean burgers (third and fourth-hand information) just won't do.
