Gold Double Lucky Break

Postby DoubleRBar » Tue Nov 19, 2013 9:58 am

Happy birthday today (Tuesday) to two Olympic champions with a total of four Olympic gold medals.

Only one of our birthday athletes is still alive today.

One of the athletes was born 106 years ago today while the other was born 47 years ago today.

The older of the two was born on a Tuesday and the younger athlete was born on a Saturday.

Five World Championship gold medals were won by the athlete born on a Saturday.

Our birthday athlete born on a Tuesday died on a Wednesday in Florida.

Don't worry about the hurdles when thinking about the athlete who died in Florida.

An Olympic bronze medal was won by the older of the two athletes.

Four World Indoor Championship gold medals were won by the younger of the two people.

Hurdles are important to the athlete born on a Saturday.

Both these athletes won Olympic gold in the United States.

These two people did not compete in the same events.

Big hint: Think Track and not Field.

Name both athletes who have birthdays today.

You got 'em, gm33. Happy birthday today to Luigi Beccali and Gail Devers. You know Beccali won the Olympic 1,500 in 1932 (bronze in 1936) and you know Devers won the Olympic 100 twice (1992 and 1996). Gail also won Olympic gold in the four by 100 relay in Atlanta.

You may not know that Beccali died in 1990 (just about the same time the Good Will Games were held in Seattle). He was 82 years old at his death.
