76, That's The Spirit

Postby DoubleRBar » Sat Sep 28, 2013 3:49 pm

Happy 76th birthday today (Saturday) to an Olympic champion who won Olympic gold at the age of 27.

Our birthday athlete graduated from the same school as did John Harbaugh (coach of the Baltimore Ravens).

When our birthday athlete won Olympic gold, the person in fifth place went on to win an Olympic gold medal four years later in a different event.

Don't consider the hurdles or the jumping events when trying to figure this athlete's name.

Name this person born 76 years ago today.

I'll guess Bob Schul.

Not sure where Harbaugh went to college, but I'd guess Stanford. If it is Schul, I'm not sure who was fifth that got gold four years later.

Bob Schul it is, mcgato. Schul went to Miami University in Ohio. Kip Keino placed fifth in the Tokyo 5,000 and he won the 1,500 four years later in Mexico City.

Happy birthday Bob Schul and nice job, mcgato.
