Was that the last year a dirt or cinder track was used?

looks like home movie

Thank you, thank you, and Thank you.

Did you see empty stadium? This is good for people who claim T&F was such a hot sport back in days. Berkeley has a large stadium (80,000?) though.

Pretty amazing--thanks! Yes, this looks like it is converted from something like super-8 home movies. Pretty funny how the 6 mile (or 10k?) at the beginning seems to go on forever...

Edwards Stadium currently seats 22,000. At its peak, I doubt it seated much more than 25,000. As for the attendance, what you're not seeing is the main grand stand, which was probably filled close to capacity. The LA Times reported the Saturday session as having 12,000 spectators.

these are results from that meet - just in case you want to reference: (kinda fuzzy) - notice Earl McCullogh in LJ trials (in pdf file)

very impressed (still) with how Lindgren closed out the 5k - very impressed (although I don't know how fast that was) - but he smoked Arne Kvalheim , Stageburg, Kerry Pearce in last 200 or so - came from some yards back of that trio

I'm gonna say yes. The NCAAs were in Knoxville the next year and I know we had a tartan track that year. Surely after Knoxville every track was "rubberized."

Dang!! Tommie Smith held the World and Collegiate record in the 400 at that time. I forgot he was the male equivalent of Allyson Felix, meaning world class at 100/200/400 meters...
