Short Kathrine Switzer video on PBS

PBS is doing a documentary on "Heroes in the Fight for Women's Rights." Last night on the PBS Newshour they aired a four minute video about Kathrein Switzer running the 1967 Boston Marathon, with an interview with her--very enjoyable to watch her talk about the run--and some archived film of that race.

(Looks like you can watch the video, though I couldn't here at work, our T1 line sometimes is slow.)

I caught that as well. Very good program. I felt they should have mentioned that Roberta Gibb had run the race the year before, 1966, albeit without a number.

I can fill in some information on Tom Miller, who was a hammer and weight thrower of some note at Syracuse. He competed with my father, Al Hall, for many years and we were friends of Kathy and Tom. Tom and Kathy divorced in 1974 and he remarried. Unfortunately, he died of a sudden heart attack in the fall of 1992 while biking with some of his friends near his home in Westchester County, New York. He was only 49 at the time.
