Last Brief Great Double

Postby DoubleRBar » Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:08 am

Happy double birthday this Monday to two Olympic champions. The older of the two was born 105 years ago today, while the younger athlete turns 46 today.

One of our champions also owns an Olympic bronze medal, while the other athlete has five World Championship gold medals.

The older athlete died at the age of 82, while the younger person was born in Seattle.

Neither athlete won Olympic medals in any field events. The older athlete set a world record the year after winning Olympic gold.

Both athletes represented different nations at the Olympic Games.

Winning four World Indoor gold medals, the younger person went to school in Southern California, while the older athlete died in Florida the same year the Goodwill Games were held in Seattle.

Southern California is were the older person won Olympic gold at the age of 24. The younger athlete first won Olympic gold at the age of 25.

Name both Olympic champions born on the 19th day of November.

LopenUupunut, you got both champions. Nice work and happy birthday today to Luigi Beccali and Gail Devers. Of course you know that Beccali won the 1932 Olympic 1,500 meters. When he won that final in 3:51.2, it was the third fastest 1,500 ever run.

Gail has three Olympic gold medals, five World Championship gold medals, and four World Indoor gold medals. What a career. I still remember how long it took before she was announced as the winner of the 1992 Olympic 100 meter dash.

Well done, LopenUupunut.
